daverclasper
Hi. As above, and also what it's purpose?. Does it lesson oil, getting flung into the the breather arrangement?. Thanks Dave Edited December 21, 2023 by daverclasper
Pete Lewis
this is generally a metal gauze bit like a pot scourer , might be plastic as metal ones could vibrate and break up. it purpose is a flame trap to stop( like a davey lamp) any cross fire between engine fumes and carburation just prise the surround open remove and wash in petrol or a cleaner then replace if you fit an alloy cover these dont have this and really should have a remote flame trap in the breather hose as many makers use like this
dougbgt6
My rocker cover doesn't have a gauze, instead an arrangement of interleaved plates. I went on the interweb to find a diagram but could only come up with this link to a little known forum, some interesting exchanges including some one called daveclasper, any relation? JohnD
Some covrs do, some don't, nonidea of the logic. The pot scourer inside is often clogged with black gunge, best levered out and thrown away. Replace with wire wool if you must.
