SpitfireGeorge
Hi Guys I cannot get the tickover below 1000 rpm even with all linkages loose and screws backed right out. Do the butterflies have a right way round or can they be fitted back to front not seating properly allowing too much air in at tickover? Cheers, Brett
Steve P
They should have a chamfer on one side to allow them to seat, so yes they do have a right way round. S

Pete Lewis
if this has a semi sealed breather system check there are no leaks even the oil filler cap etc any stray air will up the idle , and certainly agree the plates can be fitted back to front and the non chamfered edge wont close to to control the idle if you take the carb off and look through there should be no daylight around the plates with the idle unscrewed Pete
