dougbgt6
Steve, I have discovered in my garage drawer a battered and greasy copy of Triumph Sales and Service directory. I think the original outer cover is missing, it has no date on it but on the rear is printed 468/972/UK. It came with my car which is a 1973 so not too much of a jump to think 972 means 1972? It's not the same format as you original one, dealers are arranged by county which doesn't sound too bad until you encounter Merionethshire or Angus or Kirkcudbrightshire! (Where?!!) P J Evens, in Warwickshire, Birmingham has acquired a Parts Department at 21-23 Essex Street since your copy.
steveweblin
The copy I have (1.3.72 ref 468/372/UK) is from March 1972, from what you say your copy appears to be from September 1972. Over the years P J Evans operated from several different addresses in the city, including John Bright Street, Granville Street, Inge Street, Bristol Street, Pershore Street and Essex Street. Qu1ckn1ck
Thanks for that - an interesting image. When and where was it taken? Do you know whats on the truck? Who should I credit for the photo? The photo appeared in my FaceBook newsfeed because of my interest in preserved Avro Vulcan XH558. I believe it has appeared on several aircraft forums, one such post referred to it as: "This is the piccy of the Vulcan (XM603?) en-route to Woodford from Chadderton. It is the railway bridge in Hazel Grove, between the Rising Sun and the Fiveways junction. It only just fits, and there were special street lamps that could be folded down to allow the Vulcans to pass." I presume that this movement was during the original building of the Vulcan bombers, XM603 was built in 1963.

I believe Mumfords of Newton Abbot was established following the take over of A C Bulpin & Son Ltd who had been a Standard Triumph garage in 1955. I am not sure of the date of the take over. Do you have any info about Mumfords, Newquay Road, Truro.
