Herald chassis number

Hi, new to the forum and Recently acquired a 1964 12/50 and have a query regarding the chassis number and it location.mine appears to be a single line stamped tag on the divers side bulkhead and has 2**** GDT which differs slightly to the log book. Should there be another plate on the other side of the bulkhead with a bit more info like trim and paint colour?

Sounds like that is the body number, which is nothing to do with the commission number (none are actually chassis numbers)

 

Have a look at Bills website, he lists all the variations of plates

Ok thanks but where would the commission number plate be located on a 64 herald?

on all Heralds and others its fitted above the body number on the  LH side of the baulkhead

 

this is stamped with   commision   number ,  paint codes  and trim code .

 

prefixes are well presented on the club triumph site  and hope this ties up with the prefix  of the V5 data
