is there any fuel evident in the float bowls ?

there 's these little slivers of hose that float about and block the back of the float needle, crafty little sods

when the pressure drops they move away when you pump they appear

from having the jet level with the bridge how many turns down have you given it,  3 is a good starting point

when you pull the choke, is this starting valve on the side or a thames barrier that dams the throat ??

do as Doug suggests , dont use cloth/paper  it may get sucked in

anyone fancy a trip to guildford ???

Pete

Sometimes it's not enough just to squirt it in, as Dave suggested lift the piston and open the butterfly THEN squirt it in. Not sure our guy's tried that yet. Also is there vacuum at the carb inlet? And that bang! His parents reported when it died. What was that? Timing chain? :o

an interesting day, collected Doug and arrived at Jonathans around 1pm,  so off with the rockers and set the  tappets , off with the dizzy cap and plugs , dougs thumb over number 1 and get TDC and valves equal and closed , but  yeHa the ht leads are 1 pot out

carbs needed jet centering , and jet setting and a quick balance , choke cable is detached at knob end  anyway with all the basics proven and 18month old fuel   Va va Roooom    shes a goer

here comes the bacon sarnie

much tlc needed to get her into shape but with a good running motor there's the inspiration t crack on

had a nice run   home with  the Trusty Picasso throwing its toys out , the add blue tank is not venting and sucked the ruddy thing flat, on with the red warnings , dont stop it or you may not restart no mileage warning till halfway home , its showing 700m to not restarting so thats a better option than  'Im stopping call for help,  because it doenst know how much blue is in the squashed up bottle ..   Grrr  spoilt a good day out

should have used the T2000

Massive thanks to Doug and Pete. They arrived today and within minutes (before cups of tea) they were under the bonnet with the rocker cover off for a systematic inspection. True to their word they fixed the problem. Engine running!!!!!

What fantastic service, travelling all the way from Luton at short notice, with all the expertise you could ever need.

Gentlemen, very much appreciated. Thanks and it was a real pleasure to meet you both.
