Amphletize
I didn't know where to put this, hope "General" is ok! Hey guys, While refitting the dials after changing my dash the speedo drive extended out from it's plastic casing, I managed to get it back in a little way but there's still a gap, see picture attached. It now doesn't seem to want to push back into the casing any further, has anyone come across this before? I'm hoping the answer isn't "get a new cable" because it looks like a right arse of a job! Thanks all, Simon
68vitesse
Presumably you have tried rotating the cable as the other end needs to engage in the speedo drive at the gearbox end. Regards Paul
Pete Lewis
Simon, are you on about the yellow plastic in the back of the head unit or the gap between the head and the clip on cable casing ?? Pete
NonMember
Pull the inner cable out of the speedo so that you can push it back into the outer cable while rotating it so that it engages at the other end. Then refit the whole cable to the speedo in one go - you may need to rotate the speedo a bit to get it to slot in.
Amphletize
Pete - the gap between the head and the clip on the cable casing. Thanks for the advice, I'll twist and push and see how I get on!
dave.vitesse
Ensure the inner cable is slotted home in the gearbox drive. Rotate the inner cable at the speedo end until it slots home and the gap should be reduce. Then fit to the speedo. Dave
Pete Lewis
and if all else fails you can with pliers or grips screw the casing , its a spiral wound construction so wind it up/unwind it will shorten or lengthen the outer case by a amount , but think you need to get the inner engaged fully both ends as suggested .
