Colin Lindsay
They're curved to follow the contour of the door skin; a curved end at the top fits under the top lip of the door frame and the bottom is tight to the frame bottom where it's secured with two setscrews that are visible on the underside of the door. I thought I had photos of one that I replaced recently but they'll turn up when no longer needed, as usual. There was a pair of stiffeners for sale on eBay a while back, they didn't sell but weren't relisted.
