Paintwork finishing

Hi all

Following the restoration of my GT6, the paintwork on my car is mostly great but it wasn’t done by a professional and there are some rough patches / couple of drips that i’d ideally really like cleaned up.

Are there specialists who take on this kind of thing?  I really don’t want to do it myself.

If there are, it would be best if they are in the North West as I’m on the Wirral 😉

thanks for any advice!

Rich

Just wondered if you'd sorted this. Assuming the paint in the affected areas is sound and of adequate depth this sort of 'cleaning up' is what bodyshops do routinely at the polishing stage. So most likely any decent bodyshop will oblige with a 'flat and polish'. But it's laboursome work, half a day at least, so expect £100 - £200. But if the car wasn't flatted, mopped and polished after spraying then it could be worth having all the car done - really does make a difference.

Problem is finding the 'decent' refinisher. The good guys, who are mostly old skool, english and self-employed, don't need to advertise so can be hard to find. But if you can find a local paint factor they'll often have an pin board with the cards of the local chaps.

Thanks Chris.  My guess is that most body shops would be reluctant to finish somebody else’s paintwork for fear of rubbing through to primer if the  job hasn’t been done properly.  But I see there is a classic car restoration specialist fairly local, with very good reviews that I will try.

My car has been mainly flatted and polished and looks great but there are a few areas that let it down (it was not professionally painted but is a very good job).  I’m too much of a perfectionist…,

Thanks for all advice all.
