AlanT
Hi All, I’ve just fitted new jet bearings, jets, needles. Upshot is that the floats flood, big time! They are SU parts. Is there a quality issue? thanks
AlanT
Just wondering if the floats also need to be changed? They are dry inside. Do they wear/stick?
AlanT
Also, I have there spare in the kit? I take it there at no gaskets between the needle valve and float chamber lid?
Josef
What sort of floats do you have? If they’re the ones you can adjust the height of perhaps that needs doing?
AlanT
The plastic ones with no adjustment. They may well be 40 years old and no good, perhaps slightly ridged and stopping it shutting off with the new needle valves. Another ‘investment’ needed…
dannyb
Make sure you put a fibre washer under on the thread. Also check pressure from pump Danny
AlanT
Thanks. The kit didn’t come with any washers…I’ll get some plus new floats that adjust.
Pete Lewis
i rekon the float valves should have a thin alloy washer to seal against the top cover cant see it listed anywhere Pete
AlanT
I’ve ordered floats and washers from P & L minis. Hopefully… Thanks for your quick responses.
Peter Truman
For Stroms I have different thickness Al washers to fit under the needle valves to help adjust the float height cut off, but for the SU just a thin one like Pete suggests.
