Josef
My Spitfire has rewarded me for considering getting on with fitting it’s trim by starting to leak from the radiator. I was never keen on the rad as it had been fiddled with to get it low enough to clear the bonnet so it was going to go eventually… Anyway, because of this previous ‘fettling’ I’m pretty sure it didn’t start life on a Spitfire, but it is Stanpart marked, so to satisfy my curiosity can anyone identify what car it does come from? paul fosh
looks like the one on my bond , has the mk2 spitfire engine fitted ,
DanMi
could be spit mk2 though mine has the cap toward the drivers side, or maybe herald. Mine is a tight fit on the bonnet.
cliff.b
Looks exactly the same as the rad on my 1500 Spit which I assumed was the wider type, but it was on the car when I got it so who knows. The rad cap has made an impression in the bonnet soundproofing so not a lot of clearance.
Colin Lindsay
Looks like a wide radiator originally intended for the earlier 4-cylinder cars; a good upgrade towards extra cooling for later models. It should be a straight fit.
Josef
Yeah I think it must be early Herald then, didn’t realise the were ever produced with full width rads. The Mk2 Spitfire ones I think are supposed to have a slanted top for bonnet clearance. This has had several extra holes drilled to allow it to go low enough, which put the top of it much lower than I felt it should be relative to the thermostat housing. Might get it rebuilt for the 13/60 eventually I suppose.
Pete Lewis
the rather silliy fan finger guard reminds of MkIV spits and later 1500 Pete
