Clutch bleeding

Recommended Posts

Hi

This may be a silly one but on my Spitfire 1500 are the bleed nipple and feed pipe from master cylinder interchangeable on the slave cylinder?

I was going to bleed the clutch but the bleed nipple is above the feed pipe so tricky to get at.

If I undo both and swap them round the bleed nipple is much more accessible

no the bleed must be above the feed  air floats so the bleed must always be uppermost or you never expell any air trapped in the slave

all the fittings are intercahangable and the same threads and fittings  but dont do it

a tip for aiding bleeding is to push the slave pushrod/piston into the body to reduce its volume   not that easy on a 4 cyl slave as its held within the clutch hsg bracket
