it is also very common that a series land rover unit is often fitted thes can be of varying bores and not angled but
being LR are very cheap
the internals of the B and C cyls are all similar both will work ok
the reservoir capacity of the clutch is generally smaller as said but it really doesnt matter
you dont want a small res on the brake
in general terms .... most are 5/8 on type 12 /14 calipers and needs more volume on type 16s so it increased to 11/16 " many have retro fitted 3/4"
hence theres a lot of mix and match
a 5/8 cyl reduces pedal effort a 11/16 - 3/4 will raise the pedal effort

radios./ alternator diodes/ the unknown cubby box or boot lamp
are the most prolific contenders .

think you may need to reset the offset of the rouge bracket
either bend the upright or slot the bolt holes may give you actual contact with the switch plunger

taking the prop to be balanced wont check the state of the wonky flanges on the diff and gearbox !!!!
always run a file over the faces or if you can use a DTI in the face and the register diameter they are critical

why not put a bulb in series with the battery lead/post and with a leak drain it will illuminate just keep disconnecting till it goes out
cheap and reliable

it is always worth checking the connecting couplings for runout and aged bruising from years of mallet ingress
max runout less than 0.005" on the coupling fce and its spigot location
you can do what you like with the prop but a wonky coupling means you wont succeed .

the telescope can wear terribly , considering it doesn't move much must have some detrimental effect
Ive only bought props from bailey & morris not used a JP unit .
JP has a good reputation

its a wire thats been added by previous owners
blue was only a base colour for headlamps nothing to do with the alternator etc
is it connected to anything ???? like the alternator as a higher capacity than the old dynamo grown/yellow ??

you could try advancing by turn the dizzy to the best idle and back it off a touch the best is too far advanced
if it pinks on 97+ fuel then retard a little to stop it .
might just improve the punch by optimising the timing

club shop do a good deal on paints
and if you cant spray it use a small foam roller you can get a good finish with a bit of trying .
painted sons first mini with japlac and a roller it lasted 5 years and looked good , if not too close

i fear as soon as you start to mess with carbs from the std you end up with a headache
of what needles what springs , you dont get more power by going BIG it doesnt work and you have a perpetual headache
there are lots of specs about for going HS4 4-2-1 , silly pancakes all will end up in tears and empty wallet .
these make it sound quicker but in reality its often worse.
you must do a lot of homework before you jump

doesnt matter on a single filament bulb but on a twin you need to fix the two connectors so they inhibit any rotation

roof removal is simple its quite heavy
remove sun visors there are 3 bolts across the front header two at the visor fix and one at the mirror
will be screws or rivets holding the B post extention in place
in the boot there are 3 bolts through the rear deck
you will need to disconnect and de route the interior lamp harness
replacement may need replacement seals to the screen apperture and the rear deck
there is a small rubber seal on top of the B post extention
but why not mask up and spray in situ ????

the normal rack sits on rubber mounts and any chance the u bolts earth with all the grott that collects is unlikely
some earth the rack to the front engine plate
i have seen a sprung contact thats bolted to the bulkhead and rubs on a cleaned bit of the steering shaft to bypass all the uj and rack earth problems

Alan reports the car is better quicker than its ever been . we still have to swap back the accuspark unit the only hic up was the old lucas dizzy we fitted
(just to eliminate the misfiring ) without checking it out did get a points problem as the gap had closed up but she is running and he is now frightened how quick it has become
so all ends well with a bit of twiddling to the ultra weak carb mixtures has transformed his sluggish to to road rocket

strap drives can be fine or with wear or seized spigots a right nightmare for noise and vibration
most unusual as Jonny says on a Vitesse they were a std fit on many 4 cyl cars .
most wnen in trouble replace them with a normal telescopic unit

dave this is just a way to see if the dipstick marks bore any resemblance to the sump specified capacity
having seen many a wrong dipstick over the years on many variety of engines
when we got the Vit6 the stick would give you an extra 2 litres to the full mark ....hopelessly wrong
and sump on 1600 and 2 ltr mk1 is the same ,
