  1. Hi Pete , " a shade of brown showing " is this an indication of too lean or too rich Thanks Paul
  2. Hi Just checked the needles are B5CF - I remember talking with Leighton Buzzard Carbs and they said the needles were ok , Leighton werent involved with the refurb as purchased from Turner Carbs Regards Paul
  3. Hi Richard - thanks for your advice and cut my losses and will now actively look for the correct carbs - if anybody has a suitable set for sale im interested refurbed or otherwise . In the meantime Ill check the needle details and advise .There are no tags on the carbs . In the short term not too concerned about running with existing carbs as they appear to run well . a pic of the spark plug is attached - are they ok ? I know there is more adjustment Nb missed out on Facebook a couple of days ago as a guy was giving away a set of CD150's off a Vitesse MK 2
  4. Hi Dave - thanks for info , what needles would you consider correct for the CDSE's fitted to my MK2 Vitesse ? Paul
  5. Hi Dave the Accuspark is connected correctly so assume I must have fried it when I repaired the earth tag . Pretty sure I have a set of points & condenser to check this theory Paul
  6. Hi Dave , thanks for your input there is no spark from the coil so following your theory the dizzy is the source of the problem This has been converted to electronic with Accuspark conversion before I purchased the car In my naivety I didnt realise the coil output was controlled by the distributor . This points ( pardon the pun ) to the electronic conversion failing - Does this logic make sense ? Thanks Paul
  7. Hi - just reassembled fuel system after refurbishment of piping , tubing and fuel tank The only electrics work ive done is to reconnect the earth lead on the distributor face plate as it had broken free . The distributor has previously been converted to electronic with accuspark conversion The issue is there is no spark at the plugs , There is no spark from the main feed into the distributor ie no output from the coil . I have power to the coil . Ive tested the coil and with a volt meter using Ohms range between the positive and inner coil I got a reading of 9 which i think stands for 9000 something I have tried a spare coil and still the same ie no spark . What further tests can I do to identify the issue Any assistance appreciated Paul

The secret is to get the camcorder as close as possible to the dash board . because my dashboard slopes down I had to use a board Paul
  9. Hi - There are a couple of suppliers on Ebay , this is one link Keep us posted as to your progress as im close to doing the same job Regards Paul
  10. Hi Pete - Ive followed your advice to Dave and now got round to shutting off the temp compensators on the CDSE 150's on my Vitesse Mk2 - Ive screwed down the 3/16" nut - just checking this is the correct procedure see pic 1 - Also noticed the rubber washer on pic 2 has all but disintegrated - just a year . Pretty sure I cant find one of these so was going to make a cardboard washer with a smear of Hylomar Blue Best regards Paul

Hi Doug , there is no obstruction to to the windscreen view its just the way i took the pics , the profile is less than a sat nav which would be attached to the screen Paul

The Mk1 version of the Camcorder stand is ready for testing . I used a piece of white plastic soffit board, painted black - The soffit board was lined with 3mm sound deadening foam . The height is now fine for the camcorder to view through the windscreen. The Soffit board fits snugly against the the rubber extrusion by the window and locked in place with a strip of velcro at the front of the dashboard I found an old tripod release plate which in turn slides into 2 toilet accessory fittings and all firmly locked in place - sounds very Heath Robinson but may just work . The pics explain what Ive done Paul

  14. Just checked both motors and wow !! the output of the Micra is at least twice the Smiths - a word of warning make the sure both motors are secured using a vice when testing - just got the tea shirt testing the micra blower !! Newbie question , how to I check the amps drawn when the Micra is operating ? and could this be an issue for the existing wiring . I have a test meter of sorts Paul
  15. The £10 delivered Nisan Micra blower motor has arrived and the pic shows them side by side , My thoughts are that the Micra blower will fit but it will be a very tight squeeze - its obvious from the pic the increased surface area of the fan so the output will be significantly improved and the air might even hit the windscreen . It wont be a case of simply opening the aperture equally to fit the Micra blower as there isnt enough room on the left hand side inner skin, so much more fettling on the right hand side to take the new heater motor . As usual this is a bigger job than I thought so will be checking both motors are working and going in the right direction , lubricating the Smiths as Pete suggested and putting this one back with the Micra going in later in the year Regards Paul
  16. Just removed the fuel pump for overhaul , knuckle rash though reduced the length of an old 1/2ins open ended spanner and this will make maintenance easier . On examination it's clear that the diaphragm needs changing and the chamber was 30% full of crap. Looks like the diaphragm is original as its marked AC Is it best to buy a overhaul kit or purchase a new one . The cost of a new one seems very cheap ie approx £20 though they looked smaller than the original Any advice welcomed and best companies to deal with Best regards Paul
  17. Hi Richard - thanks for the link - purchased it for £10.00 !!! I will advise on the fitting progress Paul
  18. Following on from Darren's link pretty sure this is the same one , its the K11 heater not £7.50 any more though worth the monies if the correct one Regards Paul
  19. The smiths heater motor sounds like its on its last legs - I think I read somewhere the Nissan Micra blower motor fitted though the connectors needed to be reversed to make it blow http://1320.photobucket.com/user/bivvyman/media/heater-motor_zpstcnlrplq.mp4.html Any input welcomed Best regards Paul
  20. Hi Richard, guess where I bought my carbs from yes Turner Carbs . though I thought we werent allowed to post about companies who gave bad service - my 150CDSE work fine on my Mk 2 and on advice here checked the spec with Leigton Buzzard carbs who said they were suitable - I cant remember the needle size but will check and post for info . Best regards Paul
  21. Hi Pete - When I purchased my vitesse a year ago the Stromburgs were from a triumph 2500 and shot with fuel everywhere - so needed an immediate replacement so purchased the refurbished CDSE 150's - I should have waited for the correct spec to turn up as my experience was not good, bent jet, incorrect jet heights & leaking choke ( see pic ) . The carbs were returned & the jet was replaced though still have the other issues ie incorrect jet height one is 100 thou the other is 115 thou . im hoping the leaking choke will just be a gasket change . I now have a hydraulic bearing kit so this should mean i can adjust the jet height . Last but not least I need to deactivate the temp compensators ( see pic ) - this should be easy enough as followed the thread you wrote . Best regards Paul
  22. Hi , My refurbished CDSE 150SE Carbs are jetted for my Vitesse Mk2 and they work fine - just need to tidy up a few loose ends - the pic shows where 2 bolts blocking off 2 vents. Is this the best solution or should they connected Any assistance appreciated Paul

Hi Clive , thanks for info and going down the camcorder route , currently looking a mini bean bag - small bag with wheat grain which acts as a cushion and holds the camcorder in place . I will do some tests and advise progress . The cushion will lift the camcorder as my vitesse dashboard slopes forward and is below the view line for the camcorder . I had forgotton about the camcorder and it still works !! plus it can take individual photos as well although only 1 meg and a bonus is it has a remote keypad Regards Paul
