  1. Hi just setting testing the 3 fuel gauges I have to see if that is the weak link . I found a spare stabiliser , the one on the Vitesse is a digital version . The voltage out put from the mechanical stabiliser was pulsing from  5 to 10 ish , difficult to read as pulsing was fast . Is this what should be happening . With the stabilised voltage I can test the 3 gauges to see if this is the issue   On the pic one of the terminals is painted red , I’ve assumed this is positive input or doesn’t it matter ?

Don,t forget it needs to vent, that`s probably what that V in the old one is,i have the same on my Vitesse, without the vent it`s breakdown time.

    The V is a split !!
I did use the cap before but stopped when it was mot time . I will check to make sure there’s no vacuum

  3. In 2018 we went to the Gordon Bennett Rally and extended the trip with checking out sections of the Wild Atlantic Way

There’s a book for Ireland and many other countries . Try Amazon and purchase second hand as it’s likely to be well thumbed by the time you finish .

I f you choose Ireland I can let you know the route we took plus B & Bs we would recommend.

Not a problem with the float not moving far enough is it? First I would take it out and manually move it to the full position to see if you can get the correct reading...

Didn’t fancy siphoning the fuel , hoping there are further tests before dropping the fuel

  5. Hi, my fuel gauge is at 75% when full in my Vitesse . Looking to correct this if possible . I have another 2 spare petrol gauges . How can I check if it’s the sender or the guage . The voltage stabiliser is a solid state version .

Previously I had issues when the needle slowly dropped to zero and climbed back after 10 mins or so . A bit disconcerting when this happened first time 😱.

When it was working it was accurate . Changed to solid state stabiliser and the zeroing stopped but with 25% error

I see you have a standard (possibly aftermarket) rotor arm. Quality can be an issue with carbon black used to colour the plastic and some are a very loose fit on the shaft.

Red rotor arms are available from Accuspark for the Delco distributor. I have used these in recent years and the fit is very good.

    Might be worth considering.

I had an Accuspark one originally but the rivet became loose so tightened the rivet and it’s now the spare !

  7. Good that I did a trial fit for the points as would have been a disaster on the road 😱😱😱

My Delco distributor D200 came fitted with electronic ignition . After removing the electronic parts I trial fitted the points only to find the condenser was too big to fit and there was no wiring .
I purchased the points and condenser from SimonBbc ( Powerspark ) so emailed for advice . They advised by return I needed a wire from the points to the negative side of the coil and the condenser would fit though the bracket would need butchering . I found a smaller condenser which fitted ( no extra screws required) and made up a link to the coil .
I checked for a spark at the plugs and all ok . I have now replaced the original electronic ignition using heat sink paste

NB i assume if I had want to run my Vitesse using the points , I would have moved the engine to max opening of the points and then rotating the distributor to the mark which is currently 10 BTDC

Just the stupid sort of thing that could catch you out. You would be all smug "no problem, I have a set of points" to a distraught  "A&$£ I am missing a screw"

I’ll trial fit the points and condenser tomorrow and see if anything is missing 😱

    and condensor.

Set the points gap, and yes, adjust timing. Job done. Worth checking you have all teh required screws, probably used on the accuspark anyway.

Thanks Clive , I hadn’t considered the screws so will check

just to add with tub spread you can also see  the gap around the sides of the boot lid close up or even foul up .

Hi Pete . I thought if you reduce the distance between the B posts the boot gaps would increase ?

Just wondering if inner tubes are petrol resistant and won't get melted by fumes/full tank?.

    Dave

    I’ll let you know 😱

Pretty sure the new seal will be ok . To be sure I’ll put a section of inner tube in a jar of petrol and leave
