If I'm correct (it's a while since I did my last doors) you can drop the glass down into the door and just leave it sitting on the door bottom; just mask off the areas that paint may get in through. When it comes to fitting the glass again, get it into the quarterlight runner first, slide it up a bit, then fit the other runner to the other edge, slide it up sufficiently out of the way, keeping it in the channels and right to the top, and prop it there with a length of wood. When you fit the winder mechanism let it drop down until you can engage the sliders / rollers.

Thanks Colin . I’ll be able to do a dry run to check out before cellulose spraying

If it was me, I'd refit the door and gap it, refit the quarterlight, gap the quarterlight properly to the A post, and then remove the assembly and respray (door with quarterlight fitted in final place.)

All of the other ancillaries can be fairly easily fitted into a resprayed door with no damage.

Hi Colin , if I fit the quarter light then spray I will have to fit the window ? Here’s a pic of glass removal and the position of quarter light .

I like the idea of prefitting and sorting the gaps before spraying .

  3. Hi , with the warmer weather I can start to continuing respraying a spare passenger door . The door has been completely stripped as window guides are being replaced.

What’s the best approach for applying the top coat which is cellulose in my case . Do I add the quarterlight  before cellulose spraying . Do I add winding gear , window before cellulose spraying .

Window weather rubbers going on after painting . Any advice to a newbie welcome

Thanks everyone for your comments I will take the door card off and have a proper look at the adjustments.

    Mark

Here’s a pic of the adjustment nut on the front section of the quarterlight . There’s about 20mm adjustment though whether the nut will slide is debatable due to rust . This nut does move now but too some persuasion to start . The sticking point is the curve in the channel

Opened a letter this morning without looking at the name, correct address but in the name of a person who never lived here. It contains a V5 for a car I have never owned so looks like only option is to reseal mark addressee unknown also car never owned and put it back in the post.

I will not be including my name.

    Hi,

My name's Mike, I have just joined the Triumph club, though I am also a long term member of the MMOC.

I am looking to renew a childhood acquaintanceship with the Triumph Herald, with which I associate many fond memories.

Sadly the car that belonged to my parents was written off a long time ago by the young couple that acquired her from them. So there is no chance of reacquiring the actual car.

However I can look for one that is visually the same.

So what I am searching for is a Wedgewood Blue Triumph Herald 1200 or 1250

If anyone on here is looking to sell theirs or knows of one for sale I would be very interested to hear about it.

Basically, like everyone, I am looking for the best I can afford, though I would like a roadworthy example in a good state of repair.

Regarding price, I would like to know what's out there to start with and what people are asking for them.

Hopefully the right car will be amongst them and the seller and I will be able to reach an agreement that suits both of us.

Many thanks in advance for any help that club members are able to give.

    Best wishes,

    Mike.

  7. Just noticed this on Facebook , Rarebits

I've finally pushed forward with a product I have been planning for some time.

Windscreen seals for the Triumph Herald 948 Saloon and Courier Van have been unavailable for some years. This is the simple fluted design which does not use a shiny filler strip.

I have provisional pricing on producing tooling for these to be extruded in high quality EPDM. The material will match what has been used in recent years for my
Herald Coupe windscreen and Herald Estate side window seals.

These will be supplied as a cut length of 3.2metres,to be trimmed for exact fit on installation. Price is estimated at £50 per seal, plus carriage.

If you have a need for one of these, please add a reply to this message so that I can gauge interest in producing a small run of these.”

2 pin is main only   the three pin does main and dip ,has two filaments

just been out and covid brain  (without covid)  seems i only have mains ,must have passed the dip units on but

    senior moments have forgotten

    the mains are 75watt

sorry  Bum steer on the two outers

I put halogens on my Vit6 and had all 4 on dip ( not legal but never got spoted on MOT as they only checked outer  /inners   not both at the same time

    Have crystals in the 2000

what ever  fit relays and get 12v to the pointed end makes any glow worms brighten up

    Pete

Ive done the same modification on my Vitesse with all 4 lights on dip , I have an inline fuse which is removed for MOT which reverts to outers only on dip

nb the added relays make the world of difference

I re-wrapped the front loom on my Herald when I restored the loom last year using the non-sticky tape from Autosparks.

It’s time consuming, but looks very nice, however rather than use sticky tape to secure the ends on mine, I went with heat shrink tubing, again from Autosparks, as it’s much more resilient and doesn’t break down like old fashioned electrical tape into a gooey mess over time.

    Karl

I did the same on my Vitesse loom . Well worth the effort

  11. I use Bilthamber Epoxy Mastic paint which will cover metal, paint . I wire brush , degrease , rust conversion with BH Hydrate 80 then brush paint the epoxy mastic . Finally spray can with Dynax which is a waxoyl type product . The flooring has already been under sealed so not practical to remove so spray Dynax products
