  1. I had a similar problem with the MGF Seats in my convertible. I'm 5' 8" tall and just about had enough room when they were set fully back An option is to sell on your MGF Seats and fit MX5 Seats which will clear the 'B' Post and give you more rearward travel as they are narrower at the top, I believe they recline too. PS - Here's an image I've borrowed off this site of MX5 Seats in a Herald Convertible Gary
  2. This is a link to a similar query on the TR Register Forum which may help? https://www.tr-register.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/81698-pi-pedestal-distributer-metering-unit-installation-and-timing/&do=findComment&comment=779863 Regards Gary
  3. I did this job during lockdown, I used 2 x 750ML cans of Dynax S50 and also 2 x 500ML of Dinitrol 3125 Aerosol I already had, this was for a Sunbeam Tiger though which probably has a lot more cavities and box sections than a Small chassis Triumph. I drilled additional holes for application/drainage as advised by the owners club, shake the cans well and warming them in warm/hot water seemed to help with better application. Be warned, it is a very messy job!! I didn't have access to a ramp, so had to jack the car as high as possible on Axle sands, I wore disposable paper overalls, goggles and a mask If doing the job inside your garage put something down to soak up the inevitable spillage that will come out of the drain holes and keep a door or window open for a bit of ventilation Good luck Gary

    Vitesse price

Congratulations! It looks to have been restored to a good standard with a lot of sensible upgrades. Looking at the write up, don't forget to oil those Trunnions with EP90 Gear oil before you go out in the car and get the tracking checked and adjusted Also, be sure to check for any loose bolts on the Suspension/Steering and an Oil and filter change after 500 miles, with a re-torque of the cylinder head would be prudent too Good luck and Enjoy. Gary
  5. Spotted this one on E-Bay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325513994571?hash=item4bca25614b:g:YAEAAOSwNihj1A4g If it was a similar age Vitesse I would be sorely tempted?🤔 Gary

    Vitesse price

I had this recommended for use in my Current Classic by the previous owner https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjD2orxh-D8AhVTgVwKHQtnBkIQFnoECCUQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.millersoils-shop.co.uk%2Fvspe-power-plus-one-shot&usg=AOvVaw3sKlXJuGB-PNQsyyedpbhd I have no idea if it works, but it states it contains a lead replacement additive, Octane Booster and also helps protects against the effects of Ethanol. If your not sure and for piece of mind give it a try. Gary
  7. The Early Mk2 GT6 had the same wheel as the TR5 (Photo attached). I'm not 100% sure on this, but I seem to have read the later Mk2's had the same wheel as the first Mk3's though? Gary

    GT6 MK3 Engine

Euan Yes, The Ivor Searle option is a bit cheaper as you get the complete Engine. I purchased a brand new Crankshaft off Fitchett's when I rebuilt the Engine in my Vitesse, I reckon I spent over £1,000 on parts even back then in 2004 and I already had Gasket Sets, seals and Camshaft/Followers, add in the Machining costs if rebores/re-grinds are needed and it will get more expensive? So the Ivor Searle option looks reasonable value? Gary

    GT6 MK3 Engine

How about this listed for a late GT6? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/114140258231?epid=4031356637&hash=item1a934a1fb7:g:hx4AAOSwEWNcpxym It would probably work out a similar cost with a recon Head, Gasket set and build costs though. Regards Gary
  10. Colin I had a complete re-retrim kit off them for my Vitesse and from memory the strips aren't actually chrome, they are a Chrome effect moulding that is pressed or crimped into place on the edge of the Footwell trim panel. I suspect it will be on a roll and they may be able to sell you a couple of metres of it, for a small fee if you give them a call? Regards Gary
  11. Is this what you mean? https://newtoncomm.co.uk/collections/triumph/products/front-footwell-scuttle-panels-lh-side All later Herald/Vitesse models had the chrome edging, the Vitesse Passenger side was fitted with a Map Pocket though, again with the chrome edging. Gary

    Wow!

Yes, I saw that one too The wheels don't do it for me, neither does the interior or the colour. It does look like someone's spent a small fortune on it though? Gary

Is this the Best Spitfire 4 in the World? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/125711057480?hash=item1d44f68248:g:Ct8AAOSwnVVjBLQ7
  14. Colin I had a front valance off Fitchets for my Vitesse back in around 2003, I wasn't particularly impressed with it, it wasn't as bad as yours but needed a bit of fettling to fit correctly (presumably the original press tool is quite worn now?) I also found it started to rust after a few years, even though I had it media blasted and etched primed before painting, poor quality steel maybe? Gary
  15. Phil Below is a link thanks to Canley Classic showing the Hood Frame and all the fittings for the Herald 13/60 which is exactly the same as the Vitesse, Canley's list the finisher (63) and one of the End Clips (64) NLA, surprisingly one of the End clips Right Hand side (64) is in stock! https://www.canleyclassics.com/?catalogue=triumph-herald-13/60&diagram=triumph-herald-13/60-convertible-hood PS - Here's a photo of my Old Vitesse a year after its full restoration, if you zoom in you can make out the PVC Finisher and Stainless end clips Regards Gary
  16. Hi Phil Happy New Year to you too, I have answered your queries adjacent each item in BOLD Hope you get it all sorted Gary
  17. I know Fitchetts have been advertising a lot of N.O.S. Stuff on E-Bay, I also know they remanufacture various Herald/Vitesse body panels (Got the guided tour several years ago by Andy who works on the Sales counter) but I didn't realise they remanufactured rear over-riders? I had a good set of Original undented Over-riders front and rear which I had triple plated by a specialist when I Rebuilt my Vitesse between 2002 and 2006, they still looked good when I sold the car on in 2015. It's Definitely a good idea to coat the inside in your favourite Rust preventive fluid (Dinitrol 3125 in my case) a liberal coating of anti-seize to the captive nuts too. Gary
  18. Those should last longer than the Repro's? You can't beat a bit of Bling😁 Regards Gary
  19. Sold for £12,400.00, not sure if this is a good price or not?
  20. I thought it was American Walnut?
  21. What about this beauty for sale on E-Bay? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204191145557?hash=item2f8abd9e55:g:I10AAOSweoRjoD1m I'm liking the full sunroof but would prefer M.O.D. Gary
  22. Colin When I restored my Vitesse I stripped all the old coating off using a sharp wood chisel if I remember correctly, it was a horrid job and took me ages!! I was lucky that a local firm that does Powder Coating and Stove Enamelling was able to replicate the original mottled type cream finish to an excellent standard, this photo's a bit fuzzy but they really did look good as new when Dumelow's at Burton-upon-Trent had coated them. I can see why people coat them in vinyl or just paint them though. Gary
  23. Listed on E-Bay now if anyone's after some? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/385302446552?hash=item59b5d0c1d8:g:EZkAAOSwmWFjoBEf&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoGgZLwwU2bmoYPXB9tGwAgwgIXBzCtD2%2B5L1ZDzjinQUpxntO9A%2BjxYsV3dGKa4Vs1oo0uhEoC7cBD99r6MtG9WBrcSBF3JTDiYcma2anUMir2vfWHwoDc6GR38GdCHRihGcBQzKKW0WBYXt301oxoY2fz4l9%2Fun%2Bka169CD2B%2BRHewpaicj2gG%2B4U52jW%2BqKQTsB1d8YHgu%2Fu3hhRNg%2BHk%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR4rFramlYQ PS - Do they really fetch this amount of Money. Gary
  24. The 5% Response is very poor. You can't really get an accurate idea of what people want from the club with only 200 odd out of 4,000 responding I did fill in the form and do try and get involved with some of the club events and meets when time allows I will definitely be at Silverstone for the 100 Year celebration, I'm really looking forward to it🙂.
