  1. Hi! About to fit the Windscreen back in my Vitesse in a few weeks, Do I need a Window Sealant? (As there was none when I took the screen out!) If it does need a sealant which kind or make is best? Many Thanks
  2. Hi ! Just to say that my Vitesse has just "Started" for the first time in 23Years! Since 1997 Yippee!
  3. Well! According to my local Hydrolic Hose Specialist, the R6 Hoses (which will cover up to E15) would be fine! and this is recommended by his suppliers!
  4. Well! I turned the Gasket with the patent no facing down)Lip Up), re torqued the bolts and reset the valves and now I have compression?? I havent a clue how??
  5. Hi Pete! Since my last message, I have contacted "Canley" and they have told me that the original Head Gasket I have is NOT copper but Tin! and the part they sent me was an Original Stanpart Gasket but it looks like I have had it, upside down (Lipped edge down) instead of UP! so I will refit it this pm hopefully? Thanks for the input!
  6. Hi! I have now checked everything and I believe I have done things correctly so I am now going to order a Copper Head Gasket and give it another try!!
  7. Hi Pete! Have just taken the Head off again, fitted a new gasket on Thursday and torqued it down and carried out a Compression test on Sunday! Then removed the Head again and it is now sitting on my bench, and Im wondering what the hell to do!!
  8. Okay! Thats something for me to look at? Any idea on which way up the Head gasket fits? Is it raised area facing down or up?

  11. Hi! I fitted a new Head Gasket 208652 and torqued down 4.7-6.3.(As Shown in the Manual) I had compression on 5 of the 6 cylinders before I fitted the gasket but now I have none? Any Ideas? Could it be that the Head Gasket is incorrect for this 1600/6? I had the Head Skimmed and all the valves seated and compression tested!

  13. Hi All! I have a (Late) (12 July 1966) 1600/6! This model was Manufactured for 1 year only 1965-1966. It has some of the original 1600/6 and some parts from the Mk1 2 Litre. Changeover to the Mk1 was Sept 1966. Would anyone know the total cars manufactured for this one year? or any further information? Kind Regards
  14. Hi! An easy way to locate items or find out if its missing a part on the car is to look at the "Canley Classics" website, they have all the diagrams and part nos and prices to give you an idea! Best Martyn

  18. Hi All! I went to a Hydrolic pipe specialist yesterday and purchased some Copper Fuel line and asked if he had any R9 Rubber fuel pipe? He showed me the Manufacturers specification via his computer for the R6 Rubber Fuel Pipe and it stated that "R6 is suitable for E5,E10 and upto E15 Fuel (if E15 was available)? Cheers Martyn

  20. Hi All! Approx 1 year ago I fitted around 1 metre of then new Fuel Rubber Pipe SJ30 R6! and due to the Restoration have never had the car running, Do I now need to now change to SJ30 R9 due to the E10 fuel? Your help on this matter is appreciated Martyn
