  1. That's interesting to know Pete regarding the shop paint factor...something to consider later on down the line I think. Nautam
  2. hmm interesting...at some point I will look to get mine re-sprayed the original colour but I suspect it may be expensive...if you see my restoration thread, you will see the interior colour is slightly different to the outside colour...similar to yours. Nautam
  3. Looks great Shaun...by the way what colour is your car...is it Carmine Red? My car was Carmine Red per the Heritage Certificate but I think the previous owner had it re-sprayed Damsen Red. Nautam
  4. I've orders some seat foams from Owen at Park Lane Classics but the lead time is a bit long...wont come till Sept but will keep you posted on how I get on. My existing foams have completely disintegrated and my seat vinyl is ripped...hope to refurbish them when I get the foams... Nautam
  5. Hi all Well managed to PO15 the drivers side so both of my floor pans are ready for carpet...drivers side a bit better than the passenger side....before and after pics attached Had a bit left so did the fuel tank too... Will attempt the carpets at some point when time allows... Nautam
  6. What a fantastic trip and some terrific pictures...good write up too and brilliant that the car came back in one piece given the mileage covered! Nautam
  7. Fantastic Shaun Thanks for this...My foams won't arrive till September as I have also ordered some door cards, dash recovery kit, and other bits and pieces...will be away on holiday in August so the earliest delivery Owen could do is Sept...Plenty of time to do additional research on seat recovery...in the meantime, I will enjoy the weather and give the old girl some vitamin D and fresh air...also sort out some odds & sods on the car. I must say your seats look amazing on the before and after pics...well worth doing this as the interior will be transformed plus driving her will be more comfortable. Nautam
  8. Hi all Turning my attention to the passenger seat...took the rails off, wire brushed them down and treated with rust protection, then sprayed them silver...looks nice plus put WD40 to clean up the sliding mechanism...before and after pics attached... Also received my new vinyl seats but will have to wait for the foams from Park Lane Classics before I tackle the seats. Now that the passenger side pans are painted will put the carpets in with velcro at some point...will let you know how I get on. Nautam
  9. I got my MOT and paid the tax for it in April 18 but taxed it for 6 months....Sent them my V5 stating that it is now a Historic Vehicle with no modifications....I got a notification from the DVLA that the vehicle now has zero tax with the MOT due in April 19....should expect a refund on the road tax I think. Will wait with regards to the MOT bit...like most of you guys, I will probably still get it MOTed next year for peace of mind more than anything else dependant on mileage covered...so far I've only done 100 miles since it was taxed in April 18. Nautam
  10. I will be going to the Potters Bar meet tonight at around 8ish so if you are nearby, it would be good to meet another newbie. Nautam
  11. Hi Frank What are points 9 to 12 or am I just being too nosey... I might drop Moordale a line later on in the year to see if he can do some paintwork/scratch repairs to my car and possibly a bit of hood straightening....he is not too far from me. Nautam
  12. Hi Shaun Yes been busy...have some spare time today so made the most of it!... I'm in the same position as you...all mechanicals done... car passed its MOT in April...now doing some cosmetic stuff which I can handle...like you I will leave the bodywork for someone to do later in the year but in the meantime I've used some touch up paint here and there...from a distance looks ok up up close not that good. Like your idea with the insulation...looks good....my carpet is ok so will not replace...will post pics of my progress and let you all know if industrial velcro works or not. Regards Nautam
  13. Well all, finally managed to POR 15 my passenger side floorpan...see attached...degreased, rust treated it and then POR 15ed it...certainly looks better than before....Will go down the velcro route for the carpets and will either stitch to underside of carpet or try sticking with Gorilla Glue. Will now do the drivers side next...Seat Foam, new door boards and dash top ordered from Park Lane Classics so just waiting for a delivery date...I think the lead-time is quite long so expect these to come in August!...will wait and see. Nautam
  14. I notice the hood has not been folded down properly...there is a certain way to fold the hood when it is down so you don't get creases in the clear plastic at the back...just type up hood folding on triumph spitfire on youtube... The car looks great but a crappy looking hood due to poor folding may spoil the look! Nautam
  15. Hi all Well I have ordered my foams from Park Lane Classics but just wondering whether anyone has used Vinyl seats from Watford Classic Cars? Interested in these above and saw this on ebay for around £80 for 2 seat covers...I like the brown/tan colour but Rimmers are out of stock and Park Lane don't do them in brown... Stay away or give them a shot? Nautam

I'm going to be using POR 15 on my floorpans shortly...just prepping up, sanding and degreasing and will paint this stuff on very shortly...will post up pictures once done. Regards Nautam
  17. Hi Doug, No I don't think I have any studs on my floorpan...see my earlier pictures...I take it that the bit with the screw goes into the floor and the female bit goes on the underside of the carpet with 3 pronged circular bit fits on the topside of the pile and you bend the prongs so it fits in. My only concern is that there will be more holes in the metalwork/floorpan...may need to treat once the screw is in to prevent the dreaded 'R' word. Nautam
  18. Will give it a shot Rob and will update the thread on my success if any... Nautam
  19. Hi all Just out of interest, has anyone used Velcro to stick down their carpets? Looking on Amazon, there is loads of different varieties/makes etc but not sure which to use...may all be the same or could use industrial type of stuff. I really don't want to stick carpets down with glue so Velcro may be the next best option... Nautam
  20. Hi and welcome... As a recent Newbie, I took my car to JY Classics to get her re-commissioned...my car had been sitting in the garage for 16 years...they got my car to pass an MOT and now she's up and running so I'm now tinkering. Moordale is very near me and I might give them a shout to see if they can do some light bodywork repairs on some scratches I have on the car. Your car looks great from the inside...something for me to aim at! My car has no hazard lights or fog lamps but I like it like that as it keeps things as they were when the car left the factory...wanna keep things as close to original as I can. May be worth getting a Heritage Certificate to keep with the car if you don't already have one. Nautam
  21. Cheers Doug...Will check out Park Lane Classics & Newton and will update the thread as I go along. Nautam
  22. Well I've had a bit of time today to make a start on the cockpit....took the passenger seat out, old carpets, and rear board...will do one side at a time...some interesting welding on the floorpans but the work is solid enough as car has passed its MOT...found various screws and nuts and god knows where they have come from! Need to clean the area but whats the best stuff to use to get rid of old carpet adhesive? Once this area is cleaned out, next step is to degrease and POR 15 the area. The passenger seat also needs some work...will check the forum to see if anyone has done it before or whether there is a step by step guide on what I should do...frame looks good I think...I've seen kits that are available but will investigate further...one possible option is to see if someone can do it for me if its too difficult to do. Nautam
  23. The Mayday holiday was beautiful and a good time to take the old girl out for a run...especially nice in the evenings driving down the country roads with wifey! Nautam
  24. Lucky you...I'm stuck in the office getting fed up with work and wanting to take my Mark IV for a drive...hopefully the bank holiday weather will be nice to show her off! Regards Nautam
  25. Congratulations and many thanks to everyone...being a Newbie, this club is absolutely terrific and I feel very privileged to be a member! Nautam
