  1. Until 3 years ago I had a slightly smaller sister vessel, had to give up thro` age and lack of fitness. If you were considering an orbital machine, forget it they are total inadequate and feeble. You need to get a rotary machine with a `soft start`, these start at very at a slow speed/revs and build up to the speed you have selected, usually about 3000 rpm max. They can have infinitely variable speed or a selection of 5 or 6 set speeds. To do any damage with one of these you would have to be a `muffin`. I can`t recommend a particular machine because I used to use the yacht club one, but there are plenty to chose from I`m sure.

  3. Yes I did my Stag the way you suggested John, the only word of caution, when you break thro be carfull you don't go too far and damage the crown wheel. Mac

    Groaning Stag

Rob, it does exactly what you called it amongst other things.😀 Claxton, have you checked the anti roll bar bearings, if they are tight or dry, I have heard them groan in the past, give them a squirt of wd40.

    Yes....... drag strut.
  8. Wagger Early this spring while driving on a dark day didn`t justify head lights, I gave day time running lights some thought, as I felt vulnerable. Most of the bolt on ones look clumsy and out of place on a classic. My solution was to remove the side light fitting, then prise out the 5 watt bulb holder and bond a tail/stop light holder in its place ( as in pic). The 5 watt led is a bit brighter than the original and satisfies the MOT man, the 25 watt as a daytime running light is just about right and comes on with the ignition. Ordinary filament bulbs would not be suitable as too much heat would be generated. BAY15D_BULB_HOLDER.webp
  9. Rusty water perhaps ??
  10. Hi John Yes it works very well, there is nothing like the sound of a straight 6. Think the Triumph gt6 is a lovely looking car, but the MG has a lot more room. (Having to change gear) what`s that then? while doing the swap I grafted on a ex BMW 3 series ZF 4hp22 auto box, 4 speed plus lock up = 5. (the stag has the same box). Its not quite as quick of the mark as the Stag obviously, but I have never been embarrassed by its performance, and cruises 70+ easily. Had a classic friendly garage give it good examination and MOT and the insurance company were happy because there is not a performance gain, only producing 4 or 5 more ponies. Regards Mac.

    Valve seals

When I erroneously fitted them to my vitesse engine that I put in my MGB, I made a slimline chisel out of a thin screwdriver. Working between the spring coils, I was able to cut the seal vertically, and then drag it out with some pointed nose pliers. Make sure the seal spring doesn`t disappear and join the tappets etc.
