  1. Methinks he jests! Colin where are you?
  2. I also read Colin's pasta fix for his fuel tank. What day is it.......yes it's April 1st! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
  3. Will do, I bought the cowl from him. Iain
  4. I don't think I'm up for that, I'm leaving it St Tropez style....naked! Unless anyone has a bumper set they would like to sell?? Iain
  5. I would check to make sure you have a lot of disc rotation as the throttle spindles are lifted. If left from cold even with a Huco electric pump and priming for 30 seconds it takes 2-3 good pulls to start. Choke nearly full out and once started back in to around 1/3rd out. I have to leave the choke out for some time if stationary or the engine stalls. Iain
  6. My choke unit, the same as yours, leaked and the engine was difficult to start. I lapped the disc in tried to seal it but the shaft was very worn and managed to get a new unit. I had to change the disc as the new unit had the single row of holes. Stopped the leak but still didn't start well. It took many attempts at tweaking the choke cam screw to get it so it's much better. If I remember I have a lot of disc rotation ie fuel to start. Actuating the choke does also slightly rotate the throttle disc to allow air through and it's a balancing game to get it right. Another thing to worry about is the throttle cam, is it the correct one and/or worn. If its correct stay off the throttle and don't depress the clutch. Note the 8mm drill bit setting didn't work for me it was trial and error. Good luck Iain
  7. That's cheating but a very good idea!
  8. Bought bag of 100 NOS Triumph badge fixings off Ebay at a tenth of the piece price from a well known supplier. Hope they fit๐Ÿคž. Now I'm looking for 50 new badges to fit!
  9. Very true but Chris can't win. If he goes she'll say want are you doing here, if he doesn't she'll say you don't love me! Just accept defeat gracefully......
  10. It is odd that on the few days of the year I go off on car days or weekends I feel guilty. But then she's probably glad for a few days without me!
  11. My wife's is "is it time for tea" I just bow and do as I'm told....
  12. Well I've learnt something useful today๐Ÿ˜. I'll tell the wife she's always interested when I bang on about cars and widgets๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. I also have a habit of telling her old car models on TV programmes but she's never impressed.....
  13. Thanks Andy, I've seen similar on Rimmer site but couldn't believe they work or stay on. Doesn't seem very secure and easily stolen? I'll get some and try. I presume the Vitesse badge on the cowl has similar fixing. Cheers Iain
  14. Now I am confused, easily done. The Triumph and Override badges arrived next day from Paddock. Their usual 5 star service. Badges look great but the Triumph badge has two stakes on it not threaded studs๐Ÿค”. So how is it fitted? Surely not a small hole in the boot lid and pushed on? A clearance hole and stakes bent to retain? Both seem unfeasible or durable. Help please. Iain
  15. I use an STE synchroniser with adaptor for 1.5" carburetors. I found a new one on auction about two years ago for less than ยฃ30. Simple to read. Iain
  16. Could be I bought it off an auction. I'll just buy the 623901 badge from Rimmer and surprise myself! Iain
  17. Last bits are badges. I can get the Triumph and Override from Paddock, I assume the holes in the override correspond to the studs in the Triumph badge, and the Vitesse that goes on the lamp cowl from Rimmers as they are supposed to have stock in soon. Question is how does the Vitesse badge attach to the cowl? Is it stuck or are there studs on the badge. The cowl I have doesn't have any holes for fixing. Iain
  18. I've used those on the front (bulkhead side) fixings. I've still to finalise what to do at the dash side. The trim panel doesn't seem to meet the fixing points so I've made some U brackets so it can stand off 70mm or so. No idea what I'm going to do in the centre so I decided to play about with my boot trim and wait for inspiration! Iain
  19. I've just sorted my spaghetti dash wiring into bunches of tagliatelle and couldn't get the one piece cardboard trim out so I worked around it. You're right it would be much simpler and easy to fit if it were in two. The fixings on mine were also difficult to remove and had to cut them off. May I suggest buying the trim and look at perhaps cutting in two. The big problem is around the steering wheel. I still haven't properly refitted mine but it's next on the list! Good luck and let us know how you get on. Try not to look at the wiring........ Iain
  20. I'll keep looking out for some as if I ever sell the car a new owner may like it to look more standard. I just want to drive it now! Iain
  21. The London aluminium company whose factory was in Wolverhampton! Very difficult to form radius the only easy way and I use the term loosely may be to press the corners and weld in jigs to straight extrusion. Another way would be to make a set of tools for a tube bending machine. The price may be prohibitive as a set would be several hundreds of pounds.
  22. I'm a fan of less is more some cars try too hard. I've already taken off the front twin spots and for me it looks much cleaner. I think I'll leave the bumpers unclothed however I might put the GB badge back. By the way Colin welcome back to the Union! Perhaps you'll be able to buy parts more easily? Iain
  23. I'm sure I'll get used to it, at least it will have a Triumph badge and save me from telling people what it is! Iain
  24. Possibly, taken a look and they seem as rare as hens teeth. I may put an add in the club magazine. Iain
