  1. Thanks John, I shall give them a call. 👍
  2. Does anyone know of a rolling road that can get the best performance from a standard 2 litre vitesse preferably in the 3 counties area? I am always prepared to travel for a good company if necessary.
  3. It’s always rewarding to solve what could have been an expensive problem with a quick fix. Nice one!
  4. Thanks Paul H. I’ll check them out 👍
  5. I am trying to make a “tailored” hood stowage cover to fit around my Audi modified wind deflector for my Vitesse. I was originally looking for a 2nd hand original hood stowage cover but have been unsuccessful . I’m now looking for some material so that I can make one. Does anybody know of a reputable company that sells a high quality vinyl to suit?
  6. I’m guessing the car being level is correct. This is based on the theory that when a car is taken to a garage for servicing, it is usually inspected on a 2 or 4 poster ramp.
  7. Probably refilled at a very slow pace as we sat in the lay-by for about half an hour and I cranked the engine several individual times without flattening the battery. It eventually started and drove for another few miles before losing power again. However, I’m only trying to help Roger by offering the symptoms I experienced at that time.
  8. “If it where carbs then I guess it would run roughly also as cold not only a problem when warm? But it runs ok as long as it is cold” My car ran ok when cold but I guess the fuel bowls were full at that point- it seemed to loose power but after stopping for a while it would start and run again for another few miles. Can you isolate the misfire to a particular cylinder by pulling the plug leads off with the engine running? Is the number 6 spark plug drenched with oil? I’ve never known an engine die after 10 minutes of running due to an isolated 1 cylinder misfire?
  9. Is that definitely oil in the inlet port? It looks like green anti freeze. I had a similar problem. I also removed the carbs and thought I’d cleaned them but I eventually found a tiny slither of rubber sitting in the front carburettor needle valve. With that amount of “oil” in the port I would expect a massive misfire on one cylinder only and lots of smoke coming out of the exhaust. From personal experience, I’d go back to the carburettor before removing the cylinder head.
  10. Hi. Yes I do. If you have one for sale, can you please PM me with the details?Thank you. Pete.
  11. Paul. Sorry. Unable to attach image to PM so have placed it here. Will be posted tomorrow.
  12. A request for the seal and gasket set has been received so is no longer available. Pete
  13. Really good article Paul. It’s a shame that I didn’t see this a few months back. When I bought my car, the vendor said it had a D type overdrive fitted. It was leaking oil from the speedo drive seal and the bottom filter plate so I bought a seal and gasket kit for it. The parts arrived and were totally different to the ones on the car……Yep I have the J type one. If anyone would like the D type kit that I bought Free Of Charge, please send me your details and I’ll pop it in the post. Pete.
  14. Hi. I am looking for a hood stowage cover if anyone has one for sale? Thank you. Pete.
  15. Hi Josef. Please don’t put yourself out. I have found an installation method on line which consists of securing flat bars to the floor pan and then bolting the seats to the bars. Thank you for your help. Pete.
  16. Hi Josef. I shall take a look when the seats arrive. Do you have any photos of your modification? Many thanks. Pete.
  17. Hello All. I am picking up some MX5 Mk1 seats on the weekend. At this stage I’m guessing the seat rail holes won’t align with the ones on the floor. I need to keep the seats as low to the floor as possible, Does anyone have any recommendations on how to do this and how to modify the runners? Pete
  18. Hmm. This leaves me in a quandary. I was thinking about buying a pair of CV’s in the near future. What alternatives are left?
  19. Nice one Phil C. I like that sort of thing…… proper engineering!👍
  20. Hi Jon J 1250. I have continued to progress chase the carpet trial over the past few weeks. Newtons have been really busy so our schedule has slipped slightly - however, when I spoke to them last Friday the moulding manager hopes to do the trial this week. As promised, I will keep you updated. Pete.
  21. Hi Colin. Is your deflector set central so that you have the same overhang each side? Do you have a 3mm gap between the side of the deflector and the inner edge of the body? If so, I think the above method will work on your car because the plastic part of the lugs could sit inside of the bracket hole. Alternatively, you could offset the upper part of the bracket so that it moves the hole more outboard. I have attached a couple of photos to try to show you what I mean - bearing in mind I haven’t cut the top off my bracket and re-welded it outboard .
  22. Hi Colin. Please bear in mind that this is still work in progress and needs finishing. I have tried to keep fixing and removal as easy as possible. I have used 3x20mm stainless steel flat bar, Self fit plastic hooks and 3mm bungee cord which I bought off EBay. I drilled a 13mm hole in the steel bar and elongated it with a Dremill to obtain a snug fit around the rubber posts at the front end of the deflector. I will either screw the bar to the inner panel or if possible fix the plate with a strong metal adhesive (do you know of one?). I am going to fix the plastic hook and bungee to rear as I want to keep drilling the body to a minimum. I have attached photos below which I hope will help. Photos not in order, some duplicated but I cannot delete. Any questions please ask.
  23. A3 for me. Dimensions seem more or less perfect for my Mk2 Vitesse. Pete.
  24. Colin, I have also bought the same one. I’m think I’ve found a suitable way to fit it - but not quite complete. I can take a few photos when I’m next working on the car if you’re interested?
