Woody2000
Thanks for the offer Pete might find someone a bit closer hopefully 🙏 before this car sends me round the bend
Wagger
There are timing figures for the standard camshaft timings including the Auto models. Check when inlet opens and exhaust closes and compare with yours with the rocker box off. It sounds to me that the camshaft timing is retarded. They will run two teeth retarded, but very gutless. A sporty cam may compensate above idling speeds. Mods for track use seldom make a flexible road car.
Pete Lewis
yes the wsm and haynes give simple clues on checking the cam timing using feelers and setting the rockers takes 10 mins can spell it out here if needed thats for a std profile but the basics are all somewhat similar Pete
Bini
It could be that the cam timing is advanced, cant imagine it's a full race cam in there as it's a re-profile grind, all that will happen with cams and auto box's is naff acceleration until the cam hits it's power band
Woody2000
The thing with the check valve timing is I have had the head off once already due to a broken spark plug so used the Haynes manual and set the valves as in the manual
NonMember
That may be so but having the head off does not disturb the cam so you probably won't have done a cam timing check, merely a tappet clearance setting.
