68vitesse
Anyone know the type and size of thread on the ignition switch etc, and the smaller one for the master lighting switch. Regards Paul.

68vitesse
Marked NCA with the usual suspects, not on Mick Dolphins current list. Regards Paul
Colin Lindsay
It's not UNF anyway, been out and tried a few UNF bolts into both sizes. UNC maybe?
Josef
I’d be more inclined to suspect BSW or something like that if it’s a standard thread. I imagine Lucas, like SU, will have just kept making stuff and never changed their thread standards.
68vitesse
Seems very close to BSCy ¾ 26 tpi. Regards Paul

Josef
Ah yeah, I’d never heard of British Standard Cycle, but that’s probably it as both the ignition switch (~3/4 inch) and light switches (~1/2 inch) have the same TPI of 26 which is apparently characteristic. Wagger
British Standard Cycle threads wer 26tpi for all diameters. 1/4 inch coincided with 1/4 inch BSF. I wrote a 'Paper' long ago on the origin of various threads and just how unique the 2ba spanner is. (I am not parting with any of mine). Reading it would drive you all 'NUTS' and you would make a BOLT for the door.
