sulzerman
Hi all Just fitted new gaz front strut inserts. They were shorter than the originals and did not touch the bottom of inside the strut. Just pushed the car up and down and there is knocking noises. Should I have put something inside the strut so to support the bottom of the insert? If so what? Many thanks
Peter Truman
I would have thought GAZ would have anticipated that issue? I have GAZ adjustable shocks on the front of my Vitesse I brought them several years ago but only fitted them this year, they had been stored in the box horizontally and one shock initially had a 1/2in free/loose operation before resistance/compressing but working it up and down before installation got it functioning properly! thescrapman
I think you need to fit spacers with some inserts. the screw on cap needs to lock the insert solid
Pete Lewis
i would agree with that .............or the insert is incorrect length Pete
sulzerman
Have been advised by supplier (James Paddock) that some struts are slightly longer so require packers in the bottom to lock the insert solid. The inserts are only available in one size.
