Spare Triumph 1300 engine crankshaft end-float

I replaced mine recently as it was severely corroded although I bought the stainless replacement some years ago.  The whole pipe twisted and broke off when I tried to undo the olive.  As Colin commented, it needed tweaking to get the bracket to fit over the stud.  So far working well with a new nut and olive and no leaks.  On examination of the remains of the original pipe, the T piece to bypass the heater was completely blocked with what may have been Radweld used by a previous owner.

Turns and jams. I have tightened it back up, I hope.

However it may pay me to invest in a replacement and install it with some copper grease if the old one now proves to leak. I think I will be able to separate it from the adaptor in the back of the water pump, so long as I'm prepared to break it in the process.....

Maybe just good old-fashioned sludge? Death of many an engine, too... but that pic is why I had to replace the water return pipe on my Herald...

Ugh! That doesn't look healthy. 

Reminds me of the old anti-smoking adverts, blocked arteries......

The really nasty revelation is towards the end of the ad.
