trigolf
Morning all. I need to replace the rear wheel bearings on one side. As I rarely manage 2k miles a year, is it worth paying the extra dosh for Timken bearings, or just fit pattern type at half the cost. Any bearing makes to specifically avoid - i.e. korean or chinese? Colin Lindsay
I'd say go for the better ones, regardless of mileage. It's not a job I want to do too often. I use Timken, usually bought online from whomever has the size required.
Gully
Club Shop does bearing packs which I recall are a mix and match of Timken and AN Other for the inner and outer bearings (or so my GT6 front and rears were IIRC). Gully
Nigel Clark
No contest, go for good quality bearings. Replacing the bearings and setting up the shims correctly with the new bearings is not an easy job... Why risk having to do it again soon because some cheap bearings quickly failed?
