Andrew
Hello all I have just bought a complete stainless steel exhaust system from the club shop for my Herald 13/60. All went well with the removal of the old pipe and fitting of the new exhaust. My issue is the joint half way down the pipe and at the back box is blowing very slightly. I have made sure that the pipes are fully pushed home to the stops and the clamps are tight. I do not know if to use jointing compound as you never know I might need to dismantle in the future and I am told once jointing compound is used it is very tough to dismantle. Any suggestion would be most welcome Thanks Andrew
Darren Groves
Yes use exhaust assembly paste, have removed exhausts that this has been used on several times, doesn't cause a problem.
mishmosh
also consider using the better exhaust clamps as used on competion cars. Not U bolts.

Clive
Indeed, I can vouch for mikalor clamps. They just do not deform the exhausts like U clamps. Much neater too, and stainless ones are not dear off fleabay (I would recommend genuine mikalor too for a few pence extra)
Andrew
Thanks for the help and suggestions, one more thing I have been advised to use is silicone sealant instead of paste any one had experience with this not sure what to think and is the same stuff that you get from B and Q to seal your sink it this a dump question regards Andrew
Pete Lewis
no stick to proper branded exhaust sealing paste which is designed for most up to 1000c Pete
