Chris A
the radio cassette player in my 13/60 is screwed directly Under the dash, the radio mounting has brackets included in the frame for this, hence npthing extra is needed, when the radio was fitted I have no idea, it was there when I bought the car. Hope this helps a little.
Steve C
Hi Andrew I think what you are referring to is the extruded aluminium panel with angled ends which was I think, an official dealer accessory. They are now quite rare, but do come up on flea bay from time to time. If you go on newoldcars.co.uk and look at the pictures at 1205 of a Herald 1200 fitted with one, you can see what I am on about. Casper
http://herald-tips-tricks.wikidot.com/body-interior:radio-installation There are three screws at the front of the coin tray in the gearbox tunnel (if original). They are for the radio support - don't unscrew all at the same time. If you have (or get) the Courier CD from the club shop, there are full details in Issue 223 C. Colin Lindsay
You can still find radio pods / consoles on eBay, if a good period 1960 / 1970s one comes up they look the part. Mini ones are quite easy to find and have good supports attached for mounting to the underside of the dash: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Classic-mini-black-under-dash-radio-housing-genuine-rover-/182022609893?hash=item2a61649be5:g:0mkAAOSwDuJWvms8 You can also find stainless steel, brushed steel or black modern versions available on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-Herald-or-Vitesse-Black-Modern-CD-Radio-Twin-gauge-Mounting-Console-/161976868258?hash=item25b692dda2:g:qJ0AAMXQH-pRBluD
Casper
You may not be aware that the ignition key has an Aux position [position 1]. This allows the radio on when ignition is off, and it also diconnects the radio when starter is used, so you don't get nasty current spikes in your electronics. C. Eddie
There are three screws at the front of the coin tray in the gearbox tunnel (if original). They are for the radio support - don't unscrew all at the same time. I have always wondered what they were for!
