Chris Longhurst
I'm sure I've seen this picture before in one of Robson's books but don't recall the registration # 319081-TO. What country is that ? (I don't have the books to hand) Chris https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/386960359644?itmmeta=01HWD5178AHRP88QS72AMTWJT1&hash=item5a18a280dc:g:SrIAAOSwjrlmK3pf&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwLSFBMWvhn9ZcHHByncVtBhdlu95e31eyO8ysdg4WKXIz%2FsSMW9ZMIMrmAX%2FFslYU7AgjRJ%2FLJYoeHMbkioCSMVSrjxyE%2FTvWh2Z5gSEoLQj%2BXatUUTymwxd0nwL4uBlZlqLdt%2FWCbjw5B%2BG68BiYe%2BV%2FOzbK7gyoLHAUr7ONoTRB6bg338CAy5pN5s6HZIE%2BUe5gDWqa2Qk9DyBiUyJzndPIfo%2BchW0KDyMVDxAXH7Hz%2BFymSp0wk%2BiqCVLqaAU5A%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR670hKXjYw
Colin Lindsay
I know the Australians broke factory rules and made their own Vitesse-bonneted Coupe for sale locally, I've no idea if that's an AUS registration number or not but the car looks the same. If it is, it might be a pic from Michelottis studio? It's from the Graham Robinson collection, they're selling a lot of his stuff off. I did find that photo on page 88 of his Herald and Vitesse book, it's the 'Kenilworth Dragster' Harry Webster's personal souped-up car that was owned and driven by him before the Vitesse became reality. It's a Coupe with a vanguard engine, and the bonnet was designed by Michelotti for the intended new Vitesse, so that might explain the left-hand-drive and the Italian numberplate to road test it over there. I would say Aussie CKD 12/50 Coupe as it has chrome bumper covers, rego plate looks NSW colours, and rego transfer on windscreen, also a modern photo looking at the other cars in the photo. Also later variant as it has the ribbed roof panels behind the B pillar, I think they were assembled up to 65.
