I've been trying to take out deep scratches in my ally bumpers, do they have a lacquer coating on them?

no lacquer just anodised which is only a surface coating and once penetrated is not repairable. About the best you can do is try reduce the gouges as much as possible maybe with a fine file while minimising how much surface you remove from the surrounding areas.

Ive always thought that the bumper's finish lasts amazingly well but the downside is their fragility☹️

Club shop tried hard to get replicas made but the manufacturer could not form the corners

If the gouges aren't too deep you can get the anodizing removed at any reputable chroming company. Then get the them polished, either at same company or any good metal polisher, to remove all/most of the scratches and then re-anodized.

Thanks for the replies, I have them off the car will give them a good clean see what they look like then.

I reckon you could take out the gouges as mentioned and  just flat down to a very fine grade wet and dry and then polish up with Autosol. From my experience this then, doesn't oxidize for ages.

Haven't bothered on my car, as not that noticeable and shows the cars has/had a life.
