Pete Lewis
should be type 14 on a 1500 spit http://www.brake-eng.com/en/catalogue/product-details/CA2/ see also https://www.canleyclassics.com/triumph-spitfire-mkiv/1500-disc-front-and-drum-rear its only later type 16 or 16pb on GT6 that can become metric or imperial threaded fittings type 12 (1600) and type 14 herald /spitfire are all imperial unless Pete
Colin Lindsay
It will be marked on the caliper; have a look at the sides and you'll see the size.
Clive
Type 12 has only 2 bolts holding the 2 Half's of the calipers together. 14 and 16 use 4. Not managed to see 16 on type 16 calipers. As to the 3 types, metric has s smaller pad pin but can't remember the size, the 2 imperials use different seals.
Pete Lewis
and to add the metric hose thread is 10mm where as the imperials are 3/8 x24 unf. the 16metric bolts are shoulder spigoted to match the mount hole diameter Pete

Clive
I must have a proper look at mine tomorrow. They are metric type, and I did remove all rust etc when I built them up, but don't remember any such markings. That position looks like by a mounting lug? Colin Lindsay
It is, Clive - I just cropped the photo to show it more clearly. You can just make it out in this shot, just above the lower right-hand mounting.

petegardner_901
Ah... I've just had a look at my calipers and there is no indication of size - see pics. I assume they must be type 14 - ? No idea what make they are...?
NonMember
The location of the identifier in Colin's post would be hidden under the dust plate in your second photo. However, Colin's was a 16P whereas I think what you have there are type 14. The vertical links are the shape I would expect type 14 calipers on. Colin Lindsay
That's a pair of Moss-supplied - or at least manufactured - type 14 calipers. The codes 7406 and 7224 appear on the ones they supply; as far as I can ascertain, 7406 is left and 7224 right.
