Cylinder head

According to John Thomason at KE10001 the engine was detuned due to the fitting of the 2000 saloon head; to increase compression again they used domed-top pistons.

I've no idea what other changes were made to the head to prevent fitting to a later block; I think all of the manifold changes, breathers etc were common to all MK3s.

The changes at KE10001 were:

- Common head casting with 2000/2500 saloons

- Dome top pistons to recover some of the lost compression

- Milder cam for emissions

- I think the carbs changed slightly

The thing that matters is that a pre-10000 head won't suit a dome-top piston post-10001 engine, or vice versa, unless the pistons are changed.
