sulzerman Posted January 7, 2021 Report Posted January 7, 2021 Hi all My drivers door has dropped, needs a lift as I close it. I removed the door and top and bottom hinges are both knackered. I fiited a new pin but the hing is worn. The part that is bolted to the door is worn. Any suggestions? Oversized pin or good replacement hinge (if i can get one)? Anyone else had same problem?
Pete Lewis Posted January 7, 2021 Report Posted January 7, 2021 over size must be worth a try as the hinges are welded on
poppyman Posted January 7, 2021 Report Posted January 7, 2021 The old fashioned way (customer with no money) was along piece of wood under door then jack up small bit at a time till door shuts nicely. Not the correct way, but it does work... Tony.
Pete Lewis Posted January 8, 2021 Report Posted January 8, 2021 go down any 60/70/80/90s body in white production line and door setting with lump of fence post or similar was a standard wham bang thankyou fit pete 1
NonMember Posted January 8, 2021 Report Posted January 8, 2021 On the Rover Metro production line there was a highly skilled fitter whose job was to shut the door, look at the window frame gaps, open the door, grab the top of the window frame, put a knee against the trim panel, give it a good yank and shut the door again, now with nice flush window alignment.
