Clutch pedal gaiter

This might well have been asked before, but is there a knack to fitting the clutch (or brake) pedal gaiter - the one that fits on the the end of the master cylinder covering the clevis pin. Trying to get it to fit into the bulkhead hole is a *******

I tried boiling  'em put on heavy gloves and gave it a try. Then same again plus olive oil. Then I bought some "super supple" ones off Ebay which were just the same. For the moment they sit on top of the hole on double sided tape, but seems to me that silicone bath sealant is the way to go.

You need to get in underneath and work the lip down inside and around the hole in the bulkhead, preferably with someone else pushing down from above. Not easy!

they are a bit of a pig and some sold are just hopeless

a homemade tin cover screwed to the baulkhead and seals against the pedal brackets must be a good thing to make

You could Google it, but I suspect the websites will be quite, erm, specialist, if you get my drift...
