  1. the jets on H & V are long units to go thro the double skin ,some have a non return ball inside the Tee to split into two feeds can have a ball inside Pete
  2. they do need a simple ball non return at the jets and in the bottle for the bellows to work or it just sucks and blows via its easiest escape . the bellows and the ones that had a elec push button do just screw into the back of the switch we fitted the same wiper and elec pump switch to 1000s of trucks in the 70s 80s but they are hard to find now even \jags used a similar arrangement Holden used to list them but i dont see them now ?? Pete
  3. just whats wrong with the old bellows they must have a valve at the jets Tee and in the bottle there is nothing in the bellows Pete
  4. why not talk to club shop who are supplied by Bell Pete
  5. the fact both sides are in differing positions makes me think this is something growing under the chrome Pete
  6. on recon alternators we had some good experience of when a diode had failed they just cut the wire to that diode reduced the output ability but the warning lamps stayed off ...nice box, crap inside it wonderful !!!!!! Pete
  7. it is probably silver solder has a higher melt but that all looks like its had a lot of diy work done in the past life you dont need to desolder the diodes
  8. have to say there is a program on tv about Dr pimple popper ??? sorry ...........thats really useful Ha ! Pete
  9. getting the guy on the assy line to understand Phasing the Props on a truck with three shafts and two centre bearings was a challenge with getting all the yokes aligned and the variety of centre bearing bracket heights .....can be a nightmare with all the power derivatives and wheelbase tonnage thrown in for good confusion . all in the hands of a well meaning plonker with an air wrench Pete
  10. as its so easy to have the firing order wrong when messing about i would get No1 on tdc comression stroke check where the rotor is pointing , use that as No1 ....324anti clockwise for the ht leads as you had the odd pop and bang thats where i would recheck and with so many duff condensers try with is disconnected it should idle ok with it missing but it wont drive . Pete
  11. and i dont think that would pass the current MOT reqd for welded patches they seem to want a complete plate now not a jigsaw Pete
  12. overdrive can make vibrations if the 3 planet gears where not aligned on build there are dots on the gear teeth and faint scribe lines on the carrier all have to aligned to get the best running of the gears Pete
  13. i drove her out of Silverstone back to Tring with 2 jags and ERA4b on board , valued a £5 m (1997) it was hard not to get carried away down the M4 at around 60mph we (now being Renault) sent a TS3 over to the Berliet collection as they were interested happy days Pete
  14. just a thought what oil was used ?? the shaft ...was this a poorly hardened after market one used on the last rebuild the needles have been seriously skidding . not rotating quite unusual Pete
  15. it was the TS4 that was cancelled by silly chrysler they had invested far too much into cummins Vale range of noisey crap engines we were at i think chobham test track with a cummins and a TS4 wich really trashed the cummins so embarrassing it signed the death nell for the commer unit they were ordered to scrap the 16 runners 4 were secreted away one is running in NZ they used same cyinders and added one more so around 286 in and 240 bhp from memory(long faded) being involved with pre production testing it was quite normal for a 16ton TS3 to get 18/24 mpg which is still astonishing Pete
  16. Here you go the Ecurrie Ecosse Commer is up for sale again in 2013 she made over £8m if you look at the gallery the red gear knob shows she was fitted with a 6 speed gearbox I tried to get Dick (previous owner ) to fit a two speed axle which would really change the performance but we never achieved that , the orig 3D199 engine was swapped to a later 3D215 in the late 90s 1960 Commer TS3 Ecurie Ecosse for Sale | FISKENS and for the sounds of a TS3 3D199 of the same vintage Pete
  17. i have always used a slab of upolstery foam and cut it in strips glued to the tunnel use around 18mm thickness takes up all the wonky gaps . some have to cut the return off to get a fit . on the front facing i reversed the bolt which i added a nut to make a stud ,then wing nuts on the inside . Pete
  18. looks like a pretty std dash mount push button starter switch used as a upgrade lucas did make a push button switch for this wiper switch but i dont have one now we used it for years on trucks Pete
  19. you may need a bit of gorilla flakes for breaky it moves but as i said its there to collapse on impact but it will move to make it easier you can undo everything but you must set the slip clamp on the shaft as per the workshop manual > Pete
  20. dont forget you can adjust the stand off of the column its all collapsible so it will be able to move the whole column often just needs a really firm shove as the tube is in a slip clamp and the inner shaft has the slip clamp all to allow collapse in a crash so its all ...moveable in and out Pete
  21. on the opposite side of the pond ,Micks had new 'stanley' britool ratchets dead out of the box
  22. colin . checked the wiring under the seat ? checked the wiring from seat to module ? swapped pretensioner from left to right to see if issue follows ? rgds mick

Gandy hadjets and Italian tune ups all come in very handy at times of frustration . Pete
  24. have a fir selection of battery tools , one mistake i made when homebase was taken over by bunnings they sold a load of lithium battery drills impact drives for £6 i bought one of each then went back to but the stock to flog at the club meet but some greedy basket got there before me the pile was ....gone . but a full impact 1/2 drive for £6 was a worthy bargain i have 4 makita drills one over 20 yrs old still buzzing nicely with a few new battery packs . of my hand tools the 1/2drive Britool ratchet i had as apprentice in 1964 it still going strong . as for cars on bricks ive said before we had a guy from the assy line pulling a gearbox off his ford the bricks toppled over the car dropped punctured the fuel tank and his paraffin garage heater lit the lot up and he fried whilst trapped under the car ....nasty one item not mentioned is a side slip gauge like gunsons trackrite ,so easy to set the geometry up in seconds and saves a fortune in idiot garages and tyre wear . Pete
  25. really the fast idle screw just need to have a small gap to the cam ,choke fully in. the cam should give you the correct fast idle Pete
