I went for Girling NOS on slave , brake and Master Cylinders . Not the cheapest option by far.

For insulation I used Silent Coat effective and cheaper than most . Heat up with heat gun to get pliable . Cut with scissors and a wallpaper seam roller to “iron” over the contours .

Not on a Vitesse, I had to get EP Services to mod my water pump to fit it! However some have fitted without this mod?!?! Dunno why I have less room.
I used the Spall fan bracket 69A-075-AA0 with home made brackets to fit.
I’ll measure the gap between the water pump and the rad to compare if that’s ok ? Be next week as away at the present

It's a Spal VA10-AP50/C-61A 12" pull fan from T7 Designs. Very good and pulls the temperature down 10C in no time, at all.
Newbie ? Can this fan fit with the existing mechanical fan setup ?

I like the control given with an electric fan. Sitting in a traffic jam in hot weather with only a crank driven fan and the temperature rising makes for an unhappy driver. As a boy I remember seeing many cars boiled up in summer, ok mainly due to poor maintenance but the piddly fans didn't help.
Hi Iain, what’s the spec of your fan please ?

Paul do you have the multi blade plastic fan or the metal one ????
if swapped the old heavy metal for a plastic fan
and did it get hot or was the voltage creeping up ??
Pete
Hi Pete . Plastic fan fitted . The temp gauge is not standard and think it’s called a thermo gauge and measures in degrees and “normal” is 80 to 90 . Came with the Vitesse and modern .
Paul -
Driving my Vitesse have no issues with heating issues . However in queues the gauge creeps up and one time queuing for 20 mins the gauge went to 115, the outside temp was in the mid 20’s c . For peace of mind if caught on motorways , dual carriageways etc considering a fan with a manual switch for these situations . Does a fan impede the airflow , effectiveness of the rad ? What size , make would suit . Your opinions appreciated .

Could it be an overdrive relay ?

As you might imagine I used one of the variety of adhesives that I have knocking about. Can't remember which one except that, as you might have read, I had the chip it off before starting the fibreglassing job. Will update on the restoration thread in due course. Following on from PaulH..peel a bit, stick a bit. On no account peel off all the tape..yes, that is a recipe for disaster
Pete - Love the memory foam thoughts. Might just remember how to get the cover off in years to come
Hi Badwolf if we are talking about the same draught excluder have to disagree as the adhesive tape is useless . I remove the tape and use contact glue . Works for me

Tried it yesterday, threw it away in minutes. A whole £3.99 wasted.....
It kept peeling off and folding up so that it stuck to itself.
The seal I used on the tunnel is too thick and won't fit up behind the heater outlet under the dash, there's a very small gap here between the bulkhead metal and the tunnel, so was experimenting with thinner alternatives.
If you use draft excluder , peel off the self adhesive tape ( bit of a faf to get it off ) then seal with good contact glue like Bostik

Patient is definite running Lumenition Magnetronic. The thermostat was just replaced last month. Overflow bottle appears normal.
I had the dreaded slivers issue and took several carb strip downs to cure then the fake R9 started to melt internally and the resulting sludge blocked the carbs .

Hi Des , I take it your sunroof has started to split at the rear ? The metal plates at the front and rear are they solid ?

A lovely job! I can't help spotting those spares on the wall... in my garage, every time a door was slammed or there was some other vibration, each of those would magically leap outwards and land on my bonnet. No matter how far away it was.
I put them there so I can see them , if not I would buy them again 😱

Do you fancy doing my GT6? It had a sunroof for many years; since about 2001 it's a hole with a "temporary" tin plate clipped into it.
I’ll pass on this but will gladly advise on what is required , costing and how to’s and more important avoiding mistakes I made . For the headliner you will need access to a sewing machine . I used one of the old Singer machines which worked fine . Your access hole is approx 30” x 30” ?

Looks a superb job, do you want to do another?
Have you tried the hose pipe test yet?
Iain
Already started on the next one for my son and his MGB GT. This will be a challenge as it doesn’t have a sunroof at present . What’s the best tool to cut the roof ?

Finally finished a new replacement sunroof and headlining .
First one I’ve done and pleased with the result. If anybody needs any guidance more than happy to post how to do’s . This will ensure you don’t make every mistake known to man as I’ve got the T shirts . The headlining came from Pete Lewis .

I have a spitfire4 Mk2 1147cc in which the previous owner installed a Ford Sierra Type 9 5 speed gearbox, which I understand was/is a popular conversion. My problem is that the clutch has now gone kaput so does anyone know if I can simply buy a standard mk2 Spit clutch or is there something else I need to buy. The Canley website, as attached, indicates I have to do something else but they have nothing available to buy. Any help/advice greatly appreciated
This EBay seller might be able to supply
