Looking to add heating for occasional use in my garage , brick built 6m x 4m up and over door . I was considering a diesel heater like used in motor homes . Any body done this ? Don’t want to use electricity as up to the limit . I can fit outside and pipe in

Co Baines has the correct profile door rubbers .
DX73 is what I used on my Vitesse

The boot should have a hardboard panel, certainly in the convertible model; I don't know if the saloon had a separate one, screwed to the frame, or if it was attached to the seat.
The coat hook 'button' is attached to the roof about two inches back from the rear window pillar on the passenger side, maybe half an inch above the glass seal. If I can find photos of either, I'll post asap.
My Vitesse saloon has the panel screwed to the frame

I think originally hardboard covered the rear seat . I fitted a piece of thin plywood and painted it black

My SGS experience is crap , jacks lasted a year then leaked , compressor 2 years of limited use then oil sprayed every where . Just bought SIP 04383 QT100/10 . Much more expensive though low noise 57 decibels compared with 110 decibels . So far SIP 100 litre is behaving .

Re alternator . I upgraded the Dynamo on my Vitesse to a Denso alternator .

I went for Girling NOS , more expensive than repros .

See Canley Classics Technical Archive page: https://www.canleyclassics.com/?archive=the-d-type-overdrive
Excellent article by John Kipping though the last line says there’s no easy way of accessing the lower screw of the overdrive solenoid .Here’s my solution to remove the solenoid in situ by fitting an extended screw

I bought the Lidl ones . Used them for easing in and out of my Vitesse overdrive gearbox . Very useful bit of kit

An old work mate sent me a local Ad for a nice Mk2 Vitesse, VERY expensive being sold by a classic car sale yard, but at what I think an unreasonable $36.5k ?
Comes complete with all weather equipment, sounds like a deceased estate?
Several years ago it was mooted there were under 30 true Vitesse's in Australia as they were ALL personnel imports,
As my mate says it's only worth that much if some idiot is prepared to pay it!
How much is that in Sterling ?

Heat the Dodomat prior to fitting use a hairdryer or similar . Another vote for the wallpaper rollor as it works a treat

If you are using modern everyday cheapo pads you are in for a shock . If you want to stop check out Mintex . Got the T shirt

If you want a guitar body like finish use Rustin's plastic coat. Brilliant stuff. Goes a long way and is hard as nails.

How many coats did you use ?

Seems to be a bit a luck in it. I changed the front bearing and both cups, about 8 years and 20 K miles ago on Vit. It was the basic from Canley, about a tenner I think. Holding up so far!
Changed mine to Timken

When I bought my Vitesse my electrics knowledge was minimal and set about testing each circuit adding relays where I thought they were required . I’ve also added an additional bladed fuse box .
The best thing I did was to add an isolating link . This apart from extra security ensured I didn’t melt anything . I added a bladed fuse link with a 15amp fuse so removing the isolating bolt means this blows before any damage is done . I did go through a few fuses ! but no damage . The knowledgeable on this forum will help and advise whenever you need assistance . The siting of relays is personal choice . See my location and it was relatively straight forward by breaking into the wiring loom and re taping afterwards .Good luck

This is the type I’m considering . Meeting my Son in law next weekend he’s just fitted a 5kw diesel heater to his T25 VW Motorhome . I’ll report back with his findings
