Im afraid they'll be repros the same as anyone elses and although they look great can deteriorate very rapidly if not pampered☹️
Fitchets sold them as NOS and they will be pampered

Are those from Fitchetts? Need two myself.
Hi Colin .Yes best to buy from their website , rather than EBay . Cheaper postage . Website says limited stock

If you've got a super strong magnet, try getting as close as you can to bellhousing base- chances are its sitting at the bottom already. Drag your magnet slowly around the outside of b/housing. Listen very carefully. If you're lucky, you might hear a 'click' as the washer is attacted to the magnet thro the alloy. If so slowly 'drag' the magnet back up to the hole in the housing. Its worth a try.
Gav
Thanks Gav , certainly worth a try as I do have a powerful magnet though the washer is stainless with some magnetism

why not get your hole saw and makea big hole in the bottom of the hsg. IE open up the dribble hole to 2" it may let it escape
give it a wash with thinners/brake cleaner etc. from the top apperture
it wont be too oily as we have only recently rebuilt the gearbox
Pete
Hi Pete , thanks for advice . The stainless washer has some magnetism after testing the other washer . I’ve taken a “super magnet” from my Milwaukee LED torch and glued it to the end of my magnetic wand and plan to test today . Now I know the camera picked up a clutch spring I will be exploring further to try and locate

I think I’ve found the washer lodged in the clutch housing . Used my cheapie draper endoscope . Do you agree

i guess you could pull it part off and fiddle the offending washer out the gap saves removing completely
make a gap while is still sits on the studs and go fishing with a bit of wire might save some toil
might even have enough telescope travel to same dropping the prop ?????
let us know
Pete
Thanks Pete . Will remove the washer one way or the other

you could be fine small parts dont seem to get picked up
how about drill the hole in the C hsg and screw in a magnetic drain plug ,,,,,,, but not very useful on most stainless
although some are magnetic can you test on a spare waser ???
then how about a magnet on some net curtain wire dangle it through the aperture and go fishing ???
Pete
Hi Pete the other washer was stainless and not picked up by the magnet , I was removing the heater diverter. The annoying thing is I’ve done it before when changing the clutch slave and the magnet worked . Is it best to remove the box ?

Pretty sure I dropped a stainless washer in the clutch housing where the clutch release is . Is it safe to leave or do I have to get it out ?

What about a real Webasto? Look a lot better while giving the full sunroof experience. They do come up second hand but are expensive mainly because new theyre mega expensive☹️
Ant on Wheeler Dealers replaced one with metal on a Datsun Celica and it needed skilled work with an English wheel to look correct....

one if the pics shows it in a GT6

Agree with Wagger . I’ve recently changed the sunroof top of my Vitesse Britax roof and wouldn’t be without it . The roof dimensions are likely to be the same . If you need advice / costings / suppliers let me know

I really dont know how significant chipped teeth are (Id like to know the cause) but if the inner bearing surface were good Id be tempted to use it because of the lack of replacements...
When I emptied the box of oil , there was no crud / debris ie no tell tale signs

Yes leaving intact for when it’s required. I have another box , single rail spitfire box which is definitely for spares . The input shaft having significant rust . I purchased this one just for part 156911 as I understand this box shares the same 1/2nd synchro outer ring as the Vitesse . I’ll dig it out and start stripping just for the learning exercise
Paul

Thanks Johny . I’ll use this box for spares when required . My current set up for my Mk 2 Vitesse is D type OD which Uncle Pete sorted for me a while back . On reassembly Pete noticed the 1/2nd synchro outer ring might be incorrect or out of spec as it had a lot of vertical / horizontal movement. Part no 156911 .
At the time I couldn’t justify a new replacement £100 plus so the box went back as is .
Currently 1500 miles plus and the GB is behaving and 2nd synchro ( changing down ) is sorted and no excessive noise.I bought this box for part 156911 should it be required also to learn how the GB works
Thanks for all your input I’m a little wiser now . Hopefully others have gained some more knowledge .

you may find the cluster has the same tooth problem
Pete
Hi Pete , cluster being the layshaft cluster ?
Paul -
Removed the top cover . The selector forks look ok to me .
Initial look at the main shaft gears looked ok, though lots of play on the synchro rings
Check all the gears for chips and the only one was this one . Not sure which one it is . Properly mangled with tooth chips all the way round . Is this the 4th Gear ring ?

This post is intended to bridge the knowledge gap from the newbies ( me included ) and the experts who keep this forum going
I bought this gearbox for spares or repair from a known source .
It did come with its alloy housing which I’ve removed . Note the 3 small springs are still there and the copper washer on the bottom stud . This prevent oil leakingThe box didn’t include the gearbox selector though made sure the securing studs were included
Is the input shaft reusable ?
The input shaft splines ok ?
The input shaft has some vertical movement
Some general pics
The next stage is to remove the cover top assembly and see what’s there .

Paul H I agree I've watched this thread & now seriously question "Have I put all the Parts back together correctly", mine was complicated as I fitted a single rail internals into a 3 rail case with J type overdrive. Interesting all the indent springs in the 3/4 syncro hub were broken, so they were replaced also new ball bearings, there's been no mention of potential damage of these so was mine a one off?.
I know in retrospect that I should have used a 3 rail reverse spacer tube instead of the longer single rail I assume this would have avoided me to seriously bend the reverse actuating lever!!
I’ll take that as a YES and start the post tomorrow with a pic . The first ? being having I bought the correct box

I recently bought a second hand gearbox suitable for a Vitesse mk2 . I bought unseen from a known source and purchased for spares / rebuild . If I started a new thread would the experts on here guide me and anybody who wants to learn the basics and point out the good bad and the ugly . Hopefully the thread would prove to be a useful tutorial

Is that the long one? as opposed to the corners?
As to the graveyard, I recently bought a rear spring and radius arms from them. Very pleased with the stuff and the service. Happily recommend.
Hi Clive . Yes it’s the long strip across the front . My current strip is dented .

Big up for SPITFIRE GRAVEYARD . Ordered a centre chromed strip for my Vitesse bonnet from EBay on Sunday. Arrived by DHL within 2 days and the packaging was unbelievable, I think it would have survived being run over by a truck . I thought £20 deld was a fair price . I’m still looking for a CHROME MOULDING FRONT BONNET EDGE - VITESSE 13/60 part 706149
