At 22mm it's a lot wider than the dx78 or 98 and more flexible than a bubble type. It looks a good fit and will seal a bigger gap. Do the doors close without having to slam them?

    DX100 also looks promising.

Significant improvement on the bubble type and reduced the body tub spread . Less effort to close the doors

    Hi Folks,

fitting a fuse between the Alternator and the loom may cause more problems than t fixes.

The alternator can't over load the loom UNLESS you attach too many power hungry accessories. It supplies what is asked of it.

The fuses are quite fickle. If the fuse pops you lose your system.

Why not get the bearing sorted

    Powerlite do some nice alternators.

Hi Roger , could you spec a suitable Powerlite Alternator for a Vitesse

  5. Is it both carbs leaking or just one . I had the same issue with the rear carb on my Vitesse , and rubber slivers were holding the float valve open .

I also replaced the fuel pump with a modern copy and this made it worse , too much pressure . Suggest reconditioning your old one or move to electric fuel pump. I chose the latter and now use a Huco 13301 , nice bit of kit .

  6. Welcome aboard , loads of help and advice here though we do like photos . A couple of suggestions don’t purchase R 9 from EBay as there’s a lot of fake . How do I know ? Best to buy Gates Barricade . The club shop sells this brand so does Moss . If you do go down the route of an electric fuel pump I used the Huco 133010 which is a pull pump and situated in the engine bay . In my Vitesse it’s by the battery . There is no need for a pressure gauge . Target price £45 ish . You would also need an inertia switch

Frosts also do a kit based on POR15. Gets mixed reviews. Good from those who did it by the instructions. Bad from those who didn't. Various posts on here. I know of a pro restorer who uses it. He stipulates that the inside of the tank must be perfectly dry or the treatment will peel. The biggest complaint I see is that the treatment has peeled...draw your own conclusions.

I used POR 15 on my tank and it’s fine . The Rustbuster solution is cheaper and the brand seems to have a good reputation

For refurbishing you could try posting to Andrew Turner - have a look at his website:

    http://www.su-carbs.co.uk

He could probably adjust as required for your system if you give him the spec of the car as it now stands, unless you want them set up by tuning on a rolling road?

Personally can’t recommend AT . The refurbed Strombergs I bought were very shiny but needed rebuilding . Maybe it was a one off

Hi Paul. That's the earlier Britax (I believe) sunroof I've been trying to find (As appose to the later one, you bought from me for your son, that are more 70's I think?, which also have the one piece subframe?).

yes Dave it’s a fixed one piece

They seem as rare as hen teeth compared to the later ones?. Was that on the car when you bought it (and your replacing just top cover/headlining).

yes on the car when purchased , now changing the roof and headlining

Been on the lookout for the earlier one for a while, via Ebay and not seen even one yet, though I'm not desperate, and needs to be at a price I can afford anyway (the later ones for sale, appear to go for quite a lot).

I did see a very compressive/detailed fitting of the top cover etc, online a while back, though can't remember which website/U tube. Will see if I can find anything, though you may well have had a good look yourself?

    Cheers, Dave

I’ve found a guy in France who replaces sunroofs on classics and he will hopefully answer my questions . I’ll check YouTube again to see if I can find
