  1. This pic tells the story The method for removing the airlock was Loosen the filter housing 7/8 AF and rotate to vertical , the filter is removed Fill the centre hole , not much will go in . I used a standard oil gun with flexi spout . Now fill the outer ring . Bubbles will appear keep filling till the level stays , could take up to 500ml . Remove the plugs , disconnect coil wire from dynamo , run the engine and as happened with my experience a few air bubbles will show from the outside hole then oil will start to gently overflow . This means your oil pump is ok and ok to fire up. Move the filter case anti clockwise till it rests above the PRV and red tighten Twist on filter , replace the plugs , reconnect coil . Start the engine and my Vitesse reached Pressure within a few seconds . I double checked for oil leaks to find the oil pressure Union had failed , I’ve yet to find what’s wrong so removed the t piece refitting the original pressure switch for the time being. Thanks for all input from all . Appreciated what a forum we have . Paul
  2. If you change wheel bearings ( I purchased mine from Canleys as well as doughnuts ) you will need to reshim , make sure you gave a good selection of shims to hand . Canleys have a good write up on reshimming . If you can find it I’ll dig out a copy Paul
  3. I found an oil can with a flexi end the best Paul
  4. I couldn’t find the spec in the WSM and I don’t have the correct Allen key Paul
  5. Hi Nick I do have a oil pressure guage , 70 on startup 50 at 50mph 20/25 on tickover . After long run maybe down to 15 on tickover but no lower . Today I pulled the plugs , moved the oil filter carrier to vertical backfilled both holes ( centre and side) with about 500ml , dipstick now rising . No filter fitted . I do have hi torque starter Ran engine , oil started to rise and flow gently over but very slowly no drama which I was hoping for . My deduction low pressure , pick up blocked ? Or oil pump failure ? Paul
  6. Thanks for replies the filter sits between the PRV and oil pressure switch so 10 dg up from horizontal I don’t think it’s possible to move the filter so it fits below the PRV . The current position has been in place for close to 4 years now when I filled the PRV and filter access only a small amount oil oil went in before overflowing it will be simple to remove rocker to see oil flow also to remove oil pressure fitting to see if oil flows i haven’t stopped the fuel but should be ok as it’s a Huco electric pump but easy enough to pull the fuse which I will do one thing I remember is when I fitted the Mann 714/2 for the first time it took some seconds longer to knock out the oil light Assuming none of the above works I will have to remove the sump as I assume the pump is the issue . I do have a pit Thanks again for all input Paul
  7. Filled up via PRV and filter housing , there is a hole in outer casing and fitted a tube and filled . Replaced the old filter and filled with fresh oil and took out the plugs , ran for about 20 secs and no oil pressure . my final test subject to opinion is to remove filter and turnover . If no pressure then it’s sump removal which I’ve never done before thinking outside the box could there be a block with the oil pressure union Paul
  8. live feed from fuse box though my fuse box has been changed to multi blade fuse box Paul
  9. I don’t have the correct size Allan key for the gallery and couldn’t find size on WSM though looking at WSM did see layout and with PRV removed might be able to use a wanner plus a rubber nosed attachment to get some 20/50 into the oil pump is this worth a try , if not will move the filter assembly to backfill the outer holes Paul
  10. I fitted the club version first the relay failed and replaced . Then the switch fell to pieces with Ill fitting bulb cover flying off and the bulb going awol . So in my opinion not fit for purpose . I have fed this info back to the club . I have since fitted https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLASSIC-KIT-CAR-Hazard-Warning-Light-Switch-KIT-COMPLETE-with-bracket/303032562097? which although not quite the classic look works a treat easy to fit and much cheaper than the club version . Again this info has been forwarded to the club Paul
  11. I purchased R9 from AFS via eBay . The tubing lasted 6 months before it started to dissolve from the inside then ended up in the strombergs blocking the valves . Moving to Gates Barricade solved the issue Paul
  12. Access to the grubscrew is the same as the PRV so will try tomorrow if not change the orientation of the filler adaptor Paul
  13. I’ll try that thanks , the filter housing angle will cause some issues but I’m sure I can rig something up Paul
  14. Second PRV is exactly the same with wear in same place . Spring is 38mm . PRV goes back in place on both engines without the need of socket Paul
  15. Plunger fits in the recess and spring loaded though very little tension on spring Paul
  16. When I screw back the PRV there is little or no spring pressure . I have a spare mk2 engine I’ll check that one and see if it’s the same Paul
  17. PRV is out and looks ok to me , surface wear in pic 2 Should I now reassemble PRV and filter , remove plugs and turnover for 60 secs ? Paul
  18. Just did 2 x 10 sec runs with filter loose and nothing no oil coming out of the filter housing Do I take the filter off completely and check again I’ve not checked the PRV yet Paul
  19. That’s good enough for me . I’ll carry on Paul
  20. Sorry didn’t make myself clear . Is the filter in the correct position or angle with the PRV below the filter or should the filter be positioned below the PRV Paul
  21. Just starting to loosen the W714/2 filter . Is it in right place or above the PRV valve . This is the same position it’s been in since I first fitted it nearly 4 years ago . Paul
  22. My Vitesse vanity are full of foam dust so will refurbish as above though the mirror is in poor condition . Can the mirror be purchased ? Paul
