i have a roll  of headlining   if you need some 54"wide

wont match the orig but a good few have had some and made a job of it

Hi Pete I’ve bought some from you and it’s quality . I made a new headlining for the sunroof for my Vitesse and to keep the Vitesse on the road looking for scrap headlining for a template

  2. I purchased a NOS Roof for my Vitesse some time ago as part of a long term rebuild . Started cleaning the roof today and the surface rust is cleaning up nicely . My Vitesse has a sunroof as does the NOS roof. Once done it’s Rustbuster FE-124 Rust Converter then a few coats of HB Body 989 2pack Epoxy Primer.  The roof still has the strength bar in the rear window to keep the roof rigid in storage .

So. Maybe I am going down the wrong route with my decision.

What do you guys have on your cars?

    Oil coolers?

    Spin on filters?

Is there plenty of clearance when fitting a non oil cooler spin on adapter?

    Pete.

Mk2 Vitesse , spin on filter , no oil Cooler

I seem to have developed a small weep from the sump plug. It's not bad just annoying. When I change the oil next can i use something like Permatex thread sealant to seal? The plug is a correct taper thread magnetic type. I'm not happy tightening any further as I don't want to crack the boss to oil pan welding.

I had the same issue and reverted back to the tapered plug

  5. As a follow on the pistons are different on the Girling and TB3 so Girling rubbers won’t fit . The pics below show the end rubbers and the Girling seems more substantial which supports the theory my issues could have been rubber seepage . Whilst the piston had corrosion there was corrosion in all of the piston cylinder . Just bought 2 Girling NOS Brake Cylinders for £15 each

I have Classic Driving Developments CV shafts, purchased from Rimmers. They are very nicely engineered. You still have to set up the hub bearing endfloat as it still uses a spacer and shims  exactly as per original. However, you eliminate the troublesome/expensive rotoflex doughnut. So the only remaining tension in the rear suspension is the transverse spring. You can also convert to telescopic shocks without add on brackets, as you use the original top mounting point for the damper, which is still present on the chassis, al la Vit Mk 1. I have done this also. The conversion brackets were only necessary to clear the donut. It's not needed for CV shaft fit.

Thanks Trigolf , I didn’t realise CV shafts don’t need the additional bracket

  7. I have converted my Vitesse mk2 to vertical shocks using the kit from the Club Shop . The hardest part for me was fitting the top brackets which go between the body shell and the chassis so you need to have to undo the chassis bolts and Jack up the body which in most cases will be very difficult . I did manage to raise the body but not enough so the brackets needed drifting in . I’ve stayed with doughnuts purchased from Canleys and so far ok

  8. I changed rear brake cylinders about 5 years ago just stripped down to replace the rubbers as moving across to Silicone . Good job I did this as one cylinder was seized solid

They were new when fitted . The brand was TB3 . I’ll clean out and see if the surface is corroded . Any suggestions as to a reliable replacement ? What causes the corrosion , the other 1 again new was fine
