  1. Another recommendation for balljointboots.....
  2. Pig to fit, I broke one glass before reverting to adhesive...
  3. GT6 o/d propshaft now fitted with one spacer. Sliding extension is out about two thirds. We shall see in about a years time when I have finished.......
  4. Thanks Pete, if I get problems, I will have to get some special spacers turned up on a lathe. As it is, I will be using cut down gear box output shaft flanges. ( I seem to have a few in my hoard...)
  5. I've been lucky then, spacer with one sided spigot location on the Herald special shaft with no problems...
  6. Engine and box are as far back as possible. I'm thinking of a cut down U/J flange as a spacer...Or two...
  7. I notice that the GT6 overdrive propshaft is listed at 36" working length, does it have a sliding joint and would it extend that 1/2" that I need?
  8. Autoprop? I thought they had closed down? I used them in the past and was not very impressed, operating out of a dirty agricultural building and a balance weight falling off after a few miles.
  9. The rebuild of my J.C.Midge is progressing and has got to the stage of joining up the gear box and diff... I need to source a Vitesse sliding type propshaft and then get it shortened down to 36 1/2" Can anyone recommend a company that would shorten and balance a shaft? Needs to be in the South East... (Has anyone got a propshaft they want to sell?)

    Grease gun

    Castrol LM no longer available.....
  11. I worked for a car rental company at Gatwick Airport some years ago. A customer returned a car during the winter and wasn't too pleased to be charged for damages.... He had defrosted ALL the windows with a BRICK....
  12. Gone! It took me by surprise when I ventured out to replace my old pot of Castrol LM , nowhere to be found. Halfrauds didn't even have any general purpose grease..... I've had to order a tub of Granville multi purpose online...
  13. I've managed to 'fix' everything roadside, except a broken trunnion. Lucky, I suppose.
  14. It's scary what can be found... Dismantling my old Midge, hidden mating surfaces behind suspension tower..
  15. That metal ledge in the last photo should have the engine number stamped into it.
  16. Thanks Clive, might explain why I was 'Billy no mates' at the Laughing Fish a couple of months back..... The area details need updating online...!
  17. This is where that favourite tool comes in handy... (telescopic magnetic pick-up device)
  18. I did a similar layout, but cut from a spare glove box lid...
  19. Another vote for a volt meter... Noticed last week that there was a discharge showing when lights and heater blower on, substituted a spare alternator... Sorted.
  20. John, I suspect that the single hoop survival chances would be dependant on a full harness... My lap and diagonal, not so good.
  21. Makes me glad that I have installed a twin tube roll over bar on the pick up... The windscreen surround remains unprotected however...
