  1. Thanks, I'll do the same! £12.28 from Zoro, delivered!
  2. I have some similar aged cellulose paint. Need to get thinners, should i get standard or anti-bloom?
  3. Some years ago, my son's cat caught a shrew and let it loose in the bath... Wall of death job!
  4. Been there, done that, 4 years ago... Thank heavens for the Chic Doig panels!
  5. Ok, problem solved.... I was reading my Gunsons guage incorrectly. Oops. ( i didn't calibrate it properly..) 5 shims gives me just under 2 degrees, so may remove 1. 2 shims on the o/s gives just under 3. so will add to that side Castor to be done next. Thanks John and Clive!
  6. I am currently rebuilding my J C Midge. Triumph small chassis based. The original instructions suggested swapping the turrets round to be able to move the engine etc further back. This worked well for the original build (1986), but now, with a complete rebuild on another refurbished chassis, I am finding excessive positive camber at the front... So far, I have popped in 5 shims on the bottom wishbone brackets and it is still reading 6 degrees plus. I am tempted to pack it out until I have the 2 Degrees needed, then make up solid steel or aluminium spacers. Hopefully there will be enough meat on the through chassis fixings to do this... I would welcome any thoughts on this.
  7. May I recommend Ian Wooldridge's book, 'Searching for Heroes'. In chapter 7 he describes his ride with Moss (Britain's man in a Miglion) in a re-run of the epic Mille Miglia that Sir Stirling and Dennis Jenkinson won in 1955 in mind boggling time. They had big brass ones back then!
  8. I had this issue when I put my Herald pick-up back in action. Cured by pumping the pedal until hard, then leaving it wedged down hard overnight. (suitable length of timber between seat base and pedal...) No problem since.
  9. I have an old Moprod Easyflare tool, much like Iana's choice. Still going strong after 30 + years.
  10. Also check the hoses, if it leaks when filled right up.
  11. Unusual on the original bill of sale to have had rubber bumpers fitted?
  12. The planet will always survive in one form or another. It's the many and varied inhabitants that will not.
  13. Phew! My MX5 seats miss my roll hoop, original Herald seats wouldn't have.
  14. I hope those bottom mounting boxes don't get in the way of your seats...
  15. 'They are out there - and they can vote' .... And breed.
  16. Maybe Top Gear had the right idea after all.....
  17. Oh well, it seems then that you can't get the Herald specification master cylinder bracket anymore. I've cleaned up and painted the old one, so at least the m/cyls will not look cock eyed! It's quite important that the brake m/cyl is at the higher level, as there is an air duct for the heating running close under the reservoir.
  18. For my Midge rebuild, I purchased a pair of these... Part no. 119583 for the clutch and 146413 for the brake. There doesn't seem to be any variation on the brake part number as supplied by the usual suppliers, with the exception of Canleys who list the 119583 part no. for both cylinders. (these are plain brackets without the strengthening web for the brake m/cyl) I wanted the strengthened item so ordered the two brackets above, which I discovered don't match, with different mounting angle and height. I spoke to the suppliers, who seemed at a loss as to why it was a problem. I will wind up de-rusting and painting the old one. Rant over...
  19. Thanks for everybody's input! I am completely rebuilding the brakes, so will investigate the silicon option.
  20. Thanks Colin, I'm in the process of rebuilding my J.C.Midge and it's either a pair of them or trying my luck with some 2k paint or lacquer... like this..https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ProXL-2K-Clear-Lacquer-Aerosol-for-Motorbike-Cars-Petrol-Resistant-200ml/173938341611?epid=1077329240&hash=item287f8876eb:g:Wm4AAOSwo7Zbz0KY Frosts do something similar..https://www.frost.co.uk/eastwood-2k-aerospray-high-temp-ceramic-engine-paint-gloss-black-14925/#reviews I don't know how the 2k stands up to brake fluid. The top of the footwell scuttle is going to be gloss black, so I really don't want any problems!
