Another filter option is the Mann W77, very short, correct 3/4 thread and one anti-drain valve. Just over a fiver.... (maybe less if there is additional discount!) If it is good enough for a modern car with 10K service intervals, it will be fine on a triumph.

I think it's the two anti drain  valves most Triumph owners like Clive? It's good to know of another with the 3/4 thread though. I personally use the 724/1 on my 2500S but they are to long for a lot of Triumphs.

the railway  ...Hmmm.    some years ago i bought a load of LGB loco's coaches trucks and miles of track  for two circuits of the garden the logistics of earthworks needed to drive a double track around an existing garden proved too much and i reluctantly traded the lot in for back to 00 and it goes around the spare room

but like classic car hobbies it goes in spurts of enthusiasm , and its been left for too long , and i keep changing the layout so nothing is cast in stone , but

this weekend will see some resurgence and if a feel right some pictures    track ballast has been a sticking point but have decided stuff it pin it down have some fun

to hell with realism and fanning around  i just want to play trains not make something you dare not  touch

Put the ballast in after you have pinned it down Pete.... 50/50 pva and water and a drop of washing up liquid dribbled over the ballast and it's there for good after 24hrs and it looks good.

  3. Forgot to mention, only press the brake with the drums on....... I have known people do it the other way :)  Also you will have to releasr all the adjustment on your cables to get them to reconnect. Also make sure the cylinders slide on the back plate.

  4. Hi David, disconnect handbrake cable on both sides. Then wind the self adjusters bit by bit trying on the drum each time. Also press the pedal from time to time to centralise shoes. Long and drawn out process, but it is the only way. Only reconnect you cable when the pedal is good..

our PB van with induce backfire and  side exhaust under a bridge used to cause chaos and  telecom men down manholes were also a target

Telecom men were fair game Pete, but the guy checking his tyre pressures at the local garage were much better :)

  6. Got to be electrics as a lot of us used to turn the ignition off and back on again to make them backfire. In our younger day's of course :)   Could also be a loose wire on the ignition circuit ?

  7. Went out in my 2500S yesterday, first time i have been out for weeks. So went to fill up with fuel (pay at pump gloved and masked) and had a good run out in nice sunny weather. Surprised roads were still as quiet as they are, although got stuck in a queue with people trying to get into a garden centre. Just so pleased to be out though :)

I bought Touch up , Aerosol and a 5 litre tin of Valencia Blue code 66 cellulose from the club shop . The aerosol and bulk cellulose are the correct match  and the Touchup was way too dark . Out of interest using Bilthamber HIBILD Primer aerosol and Electrox which are working well and so far no cellulose reaction . I’m using the Electrox over rust areas  and flattening existing paint then HIBUILD.

    Paul

Try putting some of the 5ltrs of paint into your own can Paul, it does work better. You can buy cans off fleabay i used a 250ml can and used my brush or cotton bud for stone chip.

Tony,   Cloth soaked in Jeyes Fluid is not to their liking, if you know where they are entering (tracks etc) it makes it easier to position the rags.  This is some thread drift,  but being as the boat is not in the water makes a change from re-plumbing the fuel lines on the GT6 in glorious weather! Dick

I will give that a try Dick....... I feel like pouring in down the set grrrrrr.... fed up with the lawn looking like a grenade has gone off :(

Thanks everyone.  I'm wondering if there is a chemical reaction and whether it is something to do with the original reason for the first respray which was corrosion caused by salt spray getting through cracked paint.  I stripped back the paint to metal and treated the corrosion with Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 (I think), which I'd had good results with before.  The patterns of blisters look suspiciously like where I applied it with a brush.  Add in any remaining salt contamination and there's a whole chemistry set there! Anybody used Rustbuster's ChlorX salt remover and/or Custom 421 epoxy primer?

Can I suggest 18" a bit excessive, easier to go down 8" then bend it flat towards where they approach from.  They run to the fence, dig, come across the flat piece and depart.  Worked for me doing the vermin control on a large rural school and some other properties. Dick

A bit late now Dick, veg patch already done. Wont be doing the garden one and a half acres a bit too much, i will let them play there :)  Now, any tip's on badgers!!!!

Out today, Monday t shirt weather, in Vitesse convertible to get some fencing to stop rabbits eating my plants, if that doesn't work and I can't eat the fruit and vegetables will try rabbit pie instead and eat them that way.

    Regards

    Paul

Good luck with the fencing Paul, don't forget to go down 18 inches with the netting.... I only went 6 inches down and little b*stards went under. Still, fresh rabbit does taste nice......
