Everyone is going to have a different opinion on your question, but in the final analysis the only way you're going to know for sure is to actually try each of the cars that you're interested in. The easiest way to accomplish that is to get in touch with your local TSSC group and go to their next meeting, there you're likely to meet owners of a variety of the models that you're interested in, all of whom I'm sure would be happy to let you try their cars for size.

Just remember though, that being physically able to shoe horn yourself into a car isn't necessarily going to guarantee an enjoyable driving experience once you're there!!

A good point Ian, i have to say i found that going to various car shows was a great help as well as a lot of owners had some minor health problem and would say how they got on with their own cars and others.

  3. I would go back to a Stag Ian. I am 6"1" close to 18 stone dodgy back and knees, i tried vitesse, gt6 spitfire tr7 ect, just fancied sportier plus poss rag top. Ended up with a Stag to go with my Dolly and 2500S all auto's.... As my back op left me unable to press clutches when stuck in traffic. Also the Stag having wide opening doors is nice to get in and out of :)

  4. No surprise there Doug...... Try leaving a review on Trust pilot or Feefo? I think you will get a result then?  I left scathing reviews about qwik-fit... ( i know) but having a lease car had to use them  :(  They were on the phone within a couple of hours asking me why???

     Other  smelly things ...

People , you know ,the stale sweat/fags/superannuated underwear ones..

They can walk down several aisles of a supermarket and the smell just  stays behind  after they have gone. They go on some where else and that also smells  really bad  after they have left.

I guess everywhere they  go, all day long it smells bad. There is  no limit.

Having distributed it generously everywhere they go, how come they  don’t   just run out if it by say midday, and it have to  wait for it to  build up again?

    Puzzling things, smells.

I know what you mean about those people...... I have been known more than once to drop bars of soap or shower gel in their trolly. whether or not they get the hint i don't know or if they find it and take it out before it goes on the checkout belt.........

    Bad car smells:

I bought my Spitfire from it’s first owner, a delightful old lady in her mid eighties who drove everywhere with her very spoilt little dog on the front passenger seat.

As small yappy dogs go,  I suppose  he was quite cute  - but  he smelt really awful and he seemed to molt excessively.

When I bought the car, her little companion had long since yapped his last.

However with my purchase I learnt that it came with  the persistent   essence of her stinky, beloved little friend.

Even after the  seats and interior were removed, the floors, the inner and outer rear sills were all   replaced and the A posts repaired and the body separated from the chassis and further welding repairs were carried out,I am sure the smell   is still  detectable when I open the garage.

    Strange things  is smells.

    .

The smell of dog in a car is on par with milk and vomit, you can take the seats and carpets out and steam clean everything....... And it is still there :(  I don't know why this is? A heavy smokers car can be cleaned, even cigar and pipe smoke. It's no wonder car hire companies charge if a car comes back smelly.

Ive managed to deposit a pool of brake fluid on the garage floor, missed the car so all good but any suggestions for cleaning the concrete floor? I’m assuming it won’t harm the tyres as one will be in the area of the pool

Elbow grease is one of the best cleaners around, water soluble good on engines non flammable just  brilliant stuff :)  99p a bottle in home and bargain or B&M https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ELBOW-GREASE-ORIGINAL-500ml-All-Purpose-Degreaser-Kitchen-Bathroom-Solvent-Free/293109053864?hash=item443ea939a8:g:DJoAAOSw~Xxc8sAv  Anyone on here tried it?

  8. Hi Roger, i also have a stag and mine did the same. I did find the distributor base plate earth had broken (only found by moving the base plate) and also the mixture was running very rich. After curing said problems it seems to be ok now :)  It was a major problem on mine as it is an auto, mine also has a big rad in it. Welcome to the forum :)

Successfully viewed, purchased and collected today. :)

..all I need to do now is to figure out how to get it out of the back of my Chrysler Voyager.

Drive off quickly with tailgate open Pete, that will work  :)  Or do you have a B and D workmate to slide it on to or even a wheel barrow then it can be put where you need it.

  10. It depends how good your ears are Pete? I agree with you about taking ages to settle, but they are good for the diy man.

Paul, if you get one of these? start as Pete say's and you will be somewhere right, then use the tester. They are a bit of a faf taking time to settle. Another way is if you know your mot tester? Bung him a few quid to set them up with his professional test equipment :)

Got a call for the lady wife earlier. She said her recently acquired MX5 had a very noisy exhaust. Ane she ran the car, yes, noisy. Odd I thought, no warning. So got her to check nothing falling off etc, and she could drive it home.

Got the car home and I saw the reason.

Some ba5t4*d scroat has sawn the car out the exhaust. Seems they fetch about £2-300 on ebay!!!  I will measure up and order a bit of stainless tube to de-cat it for now. But it can't be easy to get under an MX5 to saw it off. Thought it was big 4x4 that were prone to cat theft..

    Meanwhile I am fuming. Bah.

More common than you might think Clive, they have been nicking cat's of anything for years. A pal of mine in Manchester had four stolen off his forecourt in one night.... Cctv as well, total waste of time, they are that brazen. You can buy a metal tube cutter that is silent to cut exhausts, so an angle grinder is'nt needed.
