  1. He got his tank empty. Asked him to already do this, so i dont loose much time saturday. He also lives a bit far for me. The tank i dont find to bad really. The pick up line.. thats blocked. Will clean out the fuel line from front to back, fuel filter on his new pump, float bowls etc. But already planned to check and clean it all.
  2. Car hasnt been outside at all. Never seen rain in 22 years and is like new. my only bet is bad fuel station, dirty can or he didnt clean the tank that well... This coming weekend will drain it and clean the tank good + fuel pump + carbs. Will check the fresh fuel first myself before pooring it in. I bet it will run a lot better ! 🙃 Tgen need tune the carbs better (now setup a bit lean to pass emissions. Then fix a brake leak at the rear and she can go for a re-test at the inspection center.
  3. Figured it out now it was water. Will drain the tank and clean it again.
  4. My coil is attached with bolts and nuts Is this oruginal? As this is very hard to remove the coil 🤔 Had a look underneath, seems s bracket is attached to it to hold the wiring loom. So me things original 🤔 Been thinking of installing rivnuts, so i can just bolt it down.
  5. Friend of mine has been busy getting his spitfire on the road after 22 years of standing. He cleaned the tank with petrol until it came out nice. Went to the mot and would not run good. Once home.. This was in his fuel filter.. Changed it and some fuel poored on some wood under the car.. strange ! He then got some fuel into a bottle to take a look... 😬🤔🤔 What could this be ? Dont think its not only some rust... Water ? received_1254498992007937.mp4
  6. And everything installed back. It does look nicer now ! Well .. i find that 😄
  7. More stripped of the bulkhead. But needed to stop as it was getting so hot in the sun 😔 Now when the sun is gone off the car will refit battery and wiper motor etc. As i need Fox tomorrow (back to work sfter 3 months 🙃 ).
  8. Ps, if you look at the pic when i hold the new fuse box.. you can see a part of the famous scar 😅
  9. Well my finger got a nasty scar , cant move it fully as before and the feeling is a bit different. But still getting better after every therapy session. Im already happy how it is now tbh. Oh yeah... really need to get used again with working with an angle grinder. Still didnt touch it and really need to use one for Fox 😅
  10. Been thinking to clean up the bulkhead and repaint it in bodycolor this time. Had a good look. Only surface rust. Will need to strip it in stages as you will all know.. its needed daily 😅 Paint will do on a long weekend. I've already got an uograded fuse box, but for years i've got a bigger one to put in. So will put in that now to 😅 Another little question i had was.. the coil. Noticed the bracket is bolted together with the heater valve bracket to the bulkhead. But on mine thats done with bolt and nut on the inside. So hard to remove on your own. Guess this is original ? Planning on using rivnuts now.
  11. On the way back got to 130kph/80mph at one part of motorway. But roads got a bit worse.. So back to her steady 115kph / 70mph, at this speed she seems very happy.
  12. Indeed ! And just filled her up with fuel... 7 Liter/100km -- 40mpg ! Not bad at all.
  13. Today was a good testdrive.. 320kms /200miles done, engine runs very happy and pulls great. And no oil use like before the rebuild, yes.. it still amazed me. Fuel use wasnt to bad at first look. Lots of people came over to Fox for a talk. Did put a paper on my bonnet with engine specs and the high milage ! (Yes with magnets.. so not much filler 😅) The Dutch National Triumph Day.
  14. Few months ago I had my diff rebuild on my own and fitted it. But it soon started to leak. Then had an incident with my finger.. Now after 2 months I had a look. Side shafts flange to case was leaking. Took the shafts out and put sealant on them. Hopefully its now all dry !
  15. A few days ago used some of my NOS felt seals (only 1 left now 😔) These fit great, the felt is much softer then on the new ones. So can be compressed more easy, cant be done with the new ones.
  16. Then noticed my last set of Mintex m1144's where very worn.. Sadly due to brexit the Mintex pads now cost to much and nowhere to be found in europe.. EBC greenstuff i found easly, so time to try these for the first time. Checked the discs, where just below 8mm thick. So time to replaxe them to. As always.. got everything in my stock 😅 One side noticed a split dust cover/rubber.. I do have them in my stock to. I know i replaced 2 of the 4 ones some time ago, now replaced just the bad one.
  17. Yesterday done some jobs on Fox. Track rod end gaiter split again.. So fitted another track rod end i had in stock. Will fit a new rubber on the old one and keep it as spare
  18. Found amd bought 2 original steering wheels in Germany. One was worse then mine and the other one was really nice ! On mine the rubber was becoming loose off the rim and pieces of the rubber started to fall off. But it has done 341.000kms
  19. Happy birthday / build day for Fox ! Build on 28/06/1978 and has done 340.800kms / +211.000miles 😅 This morning went to a belgian supplier 'Anglo Parts' as they had 2nd hand input shafts pretty cheap. 2nd pic is at my uncle's old sawmill and then I went of for therapy for my hand (few houses away from my uncle) Must say.. still not needed to top up the oil after 3500kms, so engine must be good. Still amazes me sonetimes that she has 'power' now. That can't be a bad thing 🙃😄
  20. Well.. the guy sells loads of NOS stuff. Some ive seen never for sale ever. 3rd& 2nd gear bush was a bit tight.
  21. Mainshaft did come from a supplier in the Netherlands. It was sort of ok, very tight to fit. But now after some use it seems to be good, no worn spots and all within spec. But seen that Bastuck now makes them to. I know a place where they sell NOS items..
  22. It was a new one 1600 miles ago 😆
  23. Inspected all the endfloats as per manual. All in spec
  24. Colin, ive found someone in germany selling NOS bits. He sells it NOS for 40 euro, not bad i think.
