  1. Still needs a bit of bodywork and then paint... And... always something Oh yeah... funds to do it all 🙃😅
  2. Yesterday another job.. Fitted my newly rebuild diff. Found a stuck trunnion bolt.. that was fun. But.. its now silent at the rear ! 🙃
  3. Moisture now gone and engine coming alive the more i use it 🙃
  4. We do seem to have a little problemo...maybe Hope its condensation, but think it isnt. If the gasket leaks im pretty sure already from where. More inspection this evening.. Oil in the sump is like new. Saturday ran the engine for the first time. Shut it off and after 30min i looked at the oil... clean. Sunday morning came back to the car, checked oil.. a very very little bit white. Under the valve cover a bit wet. Re-torqued the head and adjusted valves. Will see what it gives, otherwise its head off on friday evening.
  5. Yesterday loads done. Spend at least 8 hours on Fox.. Gearbox check, but found a bit of play at the front bearing. Didnt want to risk it fail next year or so, so got it out. Overdrive had a big service, and put o the rebuild gearbox. And chassis was painted. Today going to fit the box to the new engine and install the whole lot. + she needs to run today ! So another busy day.
  6. This evening got the bonnet off, engine out.. Tomorrow check over the gearbox, clean up chassis and then... fit the rebuild engine! 😃 Hopefully by sunday shes ready for more daily use !
  7. As im normally going to change the engine. Im going to look at the gearbox to. So it was time to put one ive rebuild together. This one has a new/used input shaft, NOS laygear etc Sadly after 3 times getting the box apart i got a bit mad. Time for a new 'kitchen' top for the workbench. Maybe make it bigger 🤔😅
  8. Saturday done a short carb service/rebuild. -New jets -New AAQ needles -changed over the choke cams to good used ones, as the holes where not round again 😅 -changed over the linkaged to good used ones And gave them a good clean. Now running very good and smooth. Starts up nicer to. Normally next week its new engine time for Fox 🙃
  9. Oh yeah.. and will spin the oil pump with a drill until oil is on the top before start up 🙃
  10. Cam is reground mk3 profile from canleys. So nothing to wild ! All followers are new. I did put a standard cam in this engine (before it really started to use oil) as lobes where gone. After 6000miles still lookes like new and now bedded in, just drove it and watched out a bit in the first few days.
  11. My clutch feel isnt great and noisy. I do always have a kit in my stock. Also going to look at the gearbox, otherwise swap it to with one I have rebuild 😅😅
  12. Took the engine off the stand and on the cart to put on backplate abd flywheel. Hoping to fit it next weekend.... 😅 Ive read that you best let it idle at 1500/2000rpm for 20 min to break in everything (has a reground cam and new pistons etc) Is this right? Or what do others do?
  13. The mistake of the supplier was sorted. Froze the pinion shaft in. Found a piece of old gas pipe that fitted great to press the bearings on. Carrier bearings installed. More parts arrive today, so this weekend diff fun.
  14. Got the new bearings from my local supplier. Sadly once home I spotted a mistake for the carrier bearings. This evening going after the right items. Did install what I could yesterday evening. Freezer does wonders when fitting bearings 😄 Also ordered another spacer and shims. So I can get rid of the collapsible spacer.
  15. And today sanded some reactions in the primer away to then redo it. Sadly yesterday my compressor packed up after i had done the rear arches. So went after my uncles compressor to finish the job Opened up my failed one, bore scored and air pressure escaping from the oil dipstick. It was a cheap one that was now 15 or 16 years old. I just bought a new one and will get here wednesday.
  16. Better weather ... so time to crack on with stuff. As I liked the Gravitex etc so much, stripped the inner wheel arches, epoxy and more Gravitex.🙃
  17. Ive watched video's and used a diff that was given to me in parts to test on how to do it. Dail gauge and feeler gauges do the trick. https://youtu.be/FCvjDfJwW0w
  18. All new bearings where ordered locally, but one not in stock. So waiting for that to arrive. Got all the spacers and thrustwashers and started to put back together a few pieces.
  19. Standard european 1500 head no. Tkc1155
  20. Clive, I will have a look. Sadly 2 bearings are broken (my fault). With gearbox's i know the new syncro's can be worse then the old , talking about spitfire's. But will have a look
  21. Now fully apart.. time to search for bearings
  22. More stuff broken.. Or cracked ! Hopefully can use the early style thrust washers /shim as the suppliers only sell the mk3 to early 1500 shim in just the size I need.
  23. Hi, I had a 4.11 diff of an mk3 spit fully in pieces in my stock. Had a go to set it up and got good results. So now the 3.63 diff that was once in Fox (spit 1500). It made noise etc, got it open this evening. fibre shims are gone on the sunwheels.. 😔 Also pinion and crown wheel has a bit to much play. Seems only mkiv/1500 use fibre ones, mk3 copper/bronze. Now can the early shims fit the 1500 diff ? Dont really thrust those fibre ones. Also bearings, does anyone know all the numbers? A friend of mine could already look at his work if the supplier can get them. Already thanks
