  1. Park Lane Classics seat foams installed today. What a difference it has made to the harshness over London's roads. I'd share a picture but the leather seat covers have stretched over time and don't look much different to when the foams had perished and disintegrated. Still very usable though.
  2. Yes to the lube and yes to the test. It's not the cable, Not to doubt your invaluable experience, given the age of the instrument/ drive, wouldn't it make sense to send it all in for refurbishment as Colin suggests?
  3. Sadly, I didn't probe further. He simply said, "try to get a set of those fancy red performance leads everyone has, to make the most of those (W78) plugs". I've learnt not to ask too many questions with grumpy old timers who know their stuff. The car has never run this well since my late 2019 purchase and its either down to his skill, the plugs, or both.
  4. Cheers Iain! The GT6 loves the W78 plugs (installed today) and has a Magnetronic ignition system & a Lucas gold coil. The leads are the club shop leads that appear to have resistance. The Magnecors should remove this.
  5. I remember you sharing so Nigel - I'm sold and will get the KV85 (8.5mm). Just need to know which set is the right one to order?
  6. Great - thanks for putting that worry to bed
  7. I believe there is an outlet (see the red plastic cap covering this (right side SU carb)?
  8. Question for the wise: Did the GT6 come factory equipped with a VCV valve? I'm struggling to explain why my hose connection was capped off (image below). Is there a benefit from deletion or conversely, inclusion?
  9. Was told that the Club shop leads had more resistance than my mechanic would like for my Gt6. After installing the W78 plugs, I'm now keen to replace them with the correct set of Magnecor leads. I'm attached an image of the Magencor UK catalogue for reference - should I purchase the Vitesse set? Many thanks in advance!
  10. Back on topic - still looking for a NOS speedo ideally.
  11. It fits beautifully. No clearance issue whatsoever. Also, the new W78 plugs are in and the car runs lovely. Sailed through its MOT without issue. Next on the list is a new valve cover seal and a set of Magnecor performance plugs leads (the pictured Club shop leads are the resistance type).
  12. Here’s a side by side from the seller. The tallest point of the Triumphtune cover is level with the lowest point of the SAH. I’m confident it will fit but will be careful
  13. We compared it to the existing cover and it is a couple mm shorter so I’m not terribly worried about the bonnet. It will go on the car in the next week or two which is when we’ll find out
  14. Will find out in a couple weeks when I put them in! Wasn't easy finding these now obsolete W78s.
  15. Pictured are two new Super 4 W78 plugs. No “R” and no “X”. Anyone know why they have different numbers printed on them?
  16. Existing unit has Parkinson's at nearly all speeds, so I'll need one in the car while mine is rebuilt. Preferably NOS or reconditioned. Please DM me if you have one lying around. Thanks in advance!
  17. Found an image of the pins I was looking for (albeit the wrong size). Anyone buy a pair online?
  18. I’m not sure it goes behind the M. Rather, it slides through the two holes on either side of the M, locking it in place and preventing it from flipping out. I’m struggling to find the correct size…
  19. Sorry, I didn’t mean an actual lock but rather just a metal clip that fits through the hole in the latch
  20. Greetings! I'm trying to locate the correctly sized locking pins to be inserted into the GT6's bonnet catch. Any leads? Cheers
  21. That's roughly what I paid Robush last week. £20 for next delivery.
  22. I have a GT6 MK2 in the same Damson colour, also restored. I drive it several times a week in Central London without hesitation. It will always receive the best care, will never see the snow and will always be garaged. That said, I can't think of any Triumph as a garage queen. Just not what they were meant to be.
  23. Had to be a MK2! Very fine example indeed!
