I did a search for Practical Classics Restoration Guide
then selected to say it had to contain all words rather than any words.
the search on your whole phrase returned no answers
now is that what you wanted?

If you are lucky (well actually unlucky) you can feel when the cross shaft bolt has failed.
with the slave push rod disconnected you can pivot the operating lever, it will have a 2-stage feel,to it if pulled back and forth and the pin has broken.
-
Yes, a very sad day for motorists.

Clamp off hoses to see it you can pin it down to a corner?

When I recommissioned my Herald estate I fitted. A set of new pads and discs from a spares car. I reckon the pads would have worked better if made from cardboard.
The brake s were horrific!
A set of pads and discs from a canley classics and stopping was restored.

I suspect you may have the wrong top housing on the gearbox, a 3-synchro one on a 4-synchro box?
they have different throws for the reverse.
loads of top covers about.
Also 10 years is plenty for the replacement bushes to go soggy. So that may be the issue.

I found one of those badge backs in my rubbish pile on Saturday, fished it back out, couldn't bring myself to throw it away

That is what you would think, but having seen the other communications from the DoT I think incompetence is a good phrase.
I will see if I can get some of the info posted here.
Then you will carry your the letter!

Dave, there is a period when you can have it without an MOT but you have not had the opportunity to declare as a VHI so claim MOT exemption.
See the issues that Russell has been having and the resultant communications from the FBHVC.
Hopefully you have all printed off the DoT letter to present to anyone who may stop you.
Cheers Colin

No to reusing the washers, well not the damaged ones.
are the new ones you got the correct hardened ones? If so a slight size difference may be OK.
I assumes it is not a tabbed gasket as that will only go one way round.
a bare smear of sealant round the oilway may be prudent.

Unipart made the mistake of selling batteries with lifetime warranties, when they realised that lots of owners of classic cars had purchased them they bought out the warranty by supplying a new battery and refunding the original purchase price.
-
Judging by the cars it is sharing space with I wonder I find the prices mentioned have been subject to Aston tax or similar.
Probably had £275 of work, but the specialist just slipped a zero on the end as the owner would have questioned why it was so cheap compared to the other cars.

I had a tiger tail in my tank, kept blocking the outlet. Think a previous owner took the adver,t too seriously.

Camber is bad on that one as well.
take it for a drive, see if the camber diminishes.
If it stays the same, it may be a new spring, or seized trunnions or seized shocks, or various other stuck stuff.

The Bond dash is one from an export market Herald, something like Sweden?

GT6 don't have separate earth tags on rear bulb holders, it is only big saloons. The GT6 earths through light unit casing.
guess what is a good upgrade on a GT6????

I suspect the volts are dropping too low, too much resistance in cabling, upping the amps and tripping the breaker.
I lived with that for 19 years with my almost identical to your compressor. Mine was caused by inadequate wiring and distance to the garage. Volts would drop to about 150V at start up.
I now have a 10mm feed direct from the incoming fuses (and a 300A 3-phase supply to the fuses) to the garages and a 16A feed to the compressor, starts whatever the weather.
What is your cabling Like?

On a Mk3 Spitfire I think it should be 2 bits of bent plate attached to the front valence.
-
That looks likeTriumph veneer to me.

Nice colour!
wrong side of the country for me with respect to engineering workshops. What lead up to you needing to rebuild the engine?
-
Did you solve e issue of the lack of length?
I wonder if it had shrunk with age.

I am sure I have an ARB off on of the demo chassis somewhere, just need to find it, or remember who
I sold it too... 🙂

I use a Bosch one, undoubtably a model recommended by Nick.
They seem much harder to foul, a bonus for a PI user.
Engine oil analysis.

Mobil 1 always used to be much cheaper in France, not sure if it still is.
