  2. I had a couple of times something similar with my Yeti. A small piece of grit stuck between pad/disc/backing plate, can't remember exactly where. It was bad enough to freak out Madame who made me return home . . .

  4. As Puglet1 says, what are the units. Mine were a bit fiddly to set up initially but since then I've had no problems with their use nor with putting the hood up or down. are you certain it is the reels that are causing a problem and not the hood frame, for example?
  5. I also have a 13/60 convertible with them fitted to the standard mounting points on the arches and have no problems with the roof.
  6. The filter was mounted the correct way, there were markings on it. I was just curious and as the plastic was discoloured it wasn't possible to see if there was any debris.
  7. I also use the cheap version just before the pump. I change it when the plastic becomes discoloured, i cut open the last one I removed to see what the state was - pretty clean. At least with the glass/plastic filter you can see if there is any deposit rather than having to open the pump up to have a look.

  10. There is a system where you can block numbers here as well, doesn't work very well. The gouvernment recently changed the laws so these types of callers had to call from 'proper numbers' not ones they change every 5 minutes. I keep out landline unplugged unless I want to use it, all the contacts I need have the mobile number - hardly ever get cold calls on it.

  12. Actually I mislead you they have a maximum of 90 hours, so they are slower than you thought. Our watering hole was manned until 4am this morning then opened up again in time for the last batch of riders this morning. They leave in several groups at fixed intervals over a 12 hour period, the last setting off at 5am this morning.   13. You must have done the rewiring a while ago when it was normal for the sockets to be for 2 pin plugs. Now they have an earth, a pin not socket this way old 2 pin items can still be plugged nto them. The current (πŸ™„) house still has a couple of these sockets dotted about the place. After serious thread drift we are back on track due to the mention of 'purple wiring'. Assuming the circuit isn't a 3 phase, then the purple could just be a live. From my book, in French, the colour specs are given as: Green/yellow : earth Blue: neutral Red or any other colour with the exception of blue, green or yellow : live
  14. We bought the first in 1990, moved here in 1994. My wife bought a small village house as a workroom at the time when she was still doing work for theatres in Britain but shortly after just did work for Disneyland in France. We sold the first one in 2007 and moved into a house in the village and when my wife retired in 2009 she sold the workroom. So just the one.
  15. I don't mind doing electrics, just hate having to work upside down, bent in 3 directions in a cramped space under the dash. In fact when we bought our first property here in France it wasn't even connected to electricity, never had been since it was built ( we worked it out as being 1803 from archived plans in the Mairie and its name 'L'An Dix'). Once we had EDF bring mains to the house I did all the wiring, to French norms into the bargain. With electrics you just have to be logical, methodic and have a good selection of swear words to hand! I spent the morning with a copy of the wiring diagramme as set of notes with what to check in a logical order to isolate the 'culprit'. I started by checking which of the purple wires was in fact connected to the fuse, it turned out to be the one that wasn't being used so swapped them over - the lights had been working with the other one which I now suspect was a replacement from some point back in time, why I don't know. No change to the situation. Confirmed I was getting power to the column switch. Ran a test wire from battery to via multi metre to main beam wire running across front of car under bonnet, power to the lights but no lights. Checked all the connections and then found I had main beam. Main beam warning light on. Switched to dip and no warning light, as it should be, it was lighting up even on dip even though no dipped beams. Checked the main beam flash function, it wasn't working yesterday when I tried it with my charming assistant who needed help to get out of the car after wards, today I used a piece of wire to hold it in the 'on' position as my assistant was 'resting'. Now lights up and activates main beam. Dipped lights still not working. Did the same test as for main beam and checked the connections under the bonnet, dipped now working. Closed bonnet and retested main/flash/dip, all fine still. All I can assume is that there was some dodgey connection in the circuit that I have now sorted, at least for a while. Note to self : check all lights each time I use car. Hate it when the problem is solved and I don't know 100% why. Can now move on to enjoying a drive out Tuesday/Wednesday to cover the part of the Paris Brest Paris cycle ride that comes through the village tonight and tomorrow morning as they head to Brest and Wednesday when theu come back. Mad bu**ers, 1200Kms to be covered in 70 hours! 6800 riders from 70 countries this year, it happens every 4 years. For Wednesday certain of us will have a free drink & snacks stand at the road side, plus blankets for those that need to crash out. There is more to life than Triumphs, apparently.

  17. Probably also for the CT (controle technique) the French MOT which for my 13/60 runs out next weekend. I spotted a split in one yesterday while investigating another problem, the split must be very new as although greasey it isn't that dirty. The gaiters are both held in place with plastic cable ties - don't blame the French the car came like that from the UK. I'm going to order the pair on the basis that if one has split the other won't be far off doing the same, and anyway my supplier sells them as a pair.

  20. I've just been outside to tidy the bits in the car away until tomorrow and thought I'd have another squint at the wiring. I found a brown wire that is connected to a purple one from the column switch loom. So the spare purple is what? I have looked at the wiring diagramme and can't find any other circuit with a purple wire, can anyone confirm this, car is a 13/60. It could be that at some point a PO ran a new wire from the fuse or somewhere along that run to the brown. Tomorrow, hopefully, is circuit tester and a logical mind to trace the wiring through, I have confirmed the fuse is good and power reached the fuse.
  21. Don't rub it in πŸ˜‰, as I said above. Spotted it when I decided to print off a new copy of the diagramme and highlight the lighting circuit. Brain is overheating, I think I'll leave it until tomorrow morning when it should be cooler outside.
  22. Silly me, I've been living in France so long that . . . The wiring diagramme labels the wire as 'N' which my brain said is for 'noir', which it isn't it actually stands for 'brown'. Not that I spotted an unconnected brown connector
  23. Hi everyone. I want to say how great this forum is and the search function is a very useful tool. Why am I saying this, well . . You have probably guessed - I seem to have the same problem on my 13/60, it must have developed in the last month or so since I did a full lights check. Dash switch and ignition on : Main beam warning light on when column lever is in either dipped or full position, beam warning light comes on in flasher mode, no headlights. No full or dipped lights, everything else ok. From my quick(ish) rummage behind the dash I did find the purple wire and connector hanging and not connected to anything, should be connected to a black wire. I haven't found a spare bullet connector amongst the rat's nest so I guess this is the starting point this afternoon or tomorrow. Failing that it will be chase down a faulty earth. I HATE working on the wiring behind the dash for all the reasons you know. Maybe I can leave it until my local garage reopens in a couple of weeks and get him to do it. He has an interest it keeping me & the car happy, the last time it was in for work he and his future wife asked if I would be willing to lend it too them for the day of their marriage next year. For me no problems, I did say that every time there is a loose bolt or the oil needs topping up I'll bring it round for him to do 😁 Lunch time, much more fun than under dash wiring!
  24. Just to butt in on this, my handbook for the 13/60 gives a lower pressure at the front than the back - never really thought about it till now. Will I sleep easy tonight due to this ?
